Hi Folks,

I'm looking at a 2005 L3130 with 216 Hrs. I inspected it yesterday and notices that the Dash will say PTO off while the PTO is clearly running.

The current owner claims it's been like this for a long time and just shrugged it off. Would you repair this and what will it take to do so?

Other thought on a 2005 L3130. The tracor was a little dirty. I see it was Dealer serviced at 179 Hrs / 2017.

Hello LarryBud

Messick's has an excellent video on what to look for when considering a used tractor. Actually they have a lot of very informative videos.

You probably know that the tractor serial number does not indicate age. The numbers are. sequential. A kindly dealer might run the number and give you date of manufacture and original selling dealer and date of original sale. If you e-mail Kubota customer they will provide the same information.

Good luck with it. I kind of which that I had gotten and "L" rather than a "B". I don't use a mid mount mower ( stored and never used) , so the mid PTO is about as useless to me as "tits on a bull". I wouldn't mind more "beef' in the tractor frame though.

Can't speak to the PTO indicator. Other may have some ideas.

In case you didn't know, try this link.

Thanks for the reply. I actually followed the Messick tutorial as I went through the L. All checked out with the PTO exception and the fact that it was a little dirty. I guess it is a tractor after all.

Considering the various pictures of filthy tractors on here (underside, not the topside), I assume that no one ever washes anything but the topside and hell with everything else. They are supposed to get dirty but not greasy, filthy underneath. I don't do greasy hands servicing mine so they are as clean underneath as on top.

Far as the pto light is concerned. I'd ignore it. You can visually see if the stub is rotating or not.

The light (on my units at least) is actuated by a micro switch on the engagement lever. Easy fix, check the wires or replace the switch.

On the L3301, the PTO switch engages the PTO and there is one switch. I assume you've turned PTO on & off and compared the shaft rotation with the light status?

On this model, is it an active "Off" indicator, or just that the light is on/off depending on PTO status - the latter would seem to be a very minor electrical issue.
