If you swapped the ECM who did the programming?

If my understanding on these is correct, you have to have the new ECM programmed to match the tractor.
Maybe one of the dealer tech's or someone with direct experience with this model will be along shortly and confirm that.

yeah even though the donor was the same tractor, the injector compensation is different

if the ecu doesn't recognize the correct injectors, it won't start the engine it will just crank over and over and over and over until the starter burns up and after you replace it it just keeps turning over and over again until the owner decides that some ting wong. Or if you're old school, if it don't start right away, give it a shot of starting fluid until it destroys the rods and ring lands (unknowingly). Once you get fuel to it you realize....uh...something ain't right.

Injector information is laser etched into the injectors themselves and they ain't fun to get to.

Thus, you can't just swap ecu's. Well you can but you need diagmaster to record certain things from the old ecu, and enter it into the new. if you don't have diagmaster (dealer only) you ain't gonna be able to do it.

Ah yes, the good old diagmaster. Sounds like John Deere to me. Between the bastard access terminals and the Diagmaster, you are all set. Cannot the dealer download the injector data from the old ECM and transfer it to the replacement one?

Lugbolt... I'm curious about something and that is, is the Diagmaster a loaned by Kubota piece of equipment or is it a purchased by the dealer piece of equipment? reason I ask is, if a dealer went out of business for some reason, does it get returned to Kubota or is it a tool that can be sold?

I know Dennis uses it all the time and I've seen it and it's not all that grand looking either

Maybe "grand" is the price for them to use it and not a description of the tool?

Could be. I can buy one (Diagmaster) with the latest software and license for a paltry 8 grand. In as much as it don't do a lick of good for me, I'll pass. I figured I could if I looked hard enough. It is in reality not a Kubota tool but it's a diagnostic tool made by Tacheuchi or Magochi or some such Japanese company for Kubota. One I looked at came with all the cables that interface to the Kubota proprietary ecm connectors. and all the software too.

Thank you for the post, yeah I stay away from the starting fluid lol , as far as the ECU swap, the other M9960 started up with the ECU from the problem tractor I must have gotten lucky with that I guess,
Looks like Ill be dropping it off to the dealer, They are not the best in my area so Im sure I wont see this tractor for a few months. thanks again
