Hi all,
I have been lurking here for a couple of years while deciding on a tractor purchase. Not to date myself but my last tractor was a used International Cub and I remember walking past the Allis Chalmers tractor plant in West Allis growing up. After much research I decided to get a B2601 for our 6.5 acres (2.5ha for my metric friends). The choice was based on a combination of use (2.5 acres finish mowing, 2 acres of rough cutting, 2.5 acres of wooded hollers, and about 0.25 mi (500 m) of gravel drive) and accessibility (lots of hills and I have to care for a family cemetery with tight clearances). Like many, I saw how much GP Outdoors got done with a B2601 and was sold. I signed the build order for a B2601 with SSQA, 54" bucket, Land Pride Pallet Forks, 60" MMM, Land Pride BB1254 Box Blade, Land Pride RCR1548 Rotary Cutter, and R14 Tires (loaded rear) on 10/31/20. I am getting a 3rd function valve for a future grapple (probably EA 55" wicked root rake) and am looking to get a chipper (leaning towards a WoodMaxx WM 8H).
Total out the door is just a hair under $25K including an abhorrent amount of tax. The dealer will also supply .pdf files of the parts and service manuals. Although I had saved the money before the purchase, based on what I learned here I will finance a small portion for 60 months at 0% to get the KTAC replacement value insurance.
I got a message from the salesman that the tractor arrived 11/10 and the 3rd function valve was on the way. Only problem is the rotary cutter, which I can wait for with no trouble. I will sign the paperwork next Monday (11/23) and then join your happy band.
Any comments on what I have missed would be appreciated.
