Hi all, First post and looking to Join the family here. I’m looking at a 2012 L3800 HST with 212 hours, quick release front bucket. And no implements. I would like to add a BH77 at some point down the road And already priced them out at 9500 installed. What is a fair price for both buyer and seller on this, They won’t take lower thank 20k, I feel like that is high but I know pre-emission machines are commanding a premium. Thanks

That's pretty much what they cost 8 years ago... but then again, they have not used it much. Have you looked at it yet? Was it kept inside or out? Ag tires or industrial? Check the oil filters to see if they have been changed (gray ones are from the factory, white, they have been changed...)

R4 tires on it, I haven’t look at it yet. It was kept in a shelter logic tent since new. Pics look Good and I’m considering it but want to do my due diligence First. My other option is a brand new L2501. It will the same amount of money either way once I buy the backhoe, so used A L3800 or new L2501? Same money either way

In 2018, I purchased an L3800 HST (2013 with 321 hours) with LA525 loader, BH77 back hoe, 3PH, and rear chains on the R4 loaded tires for $21.5K.
A L3800 was listed on Craigslist about 3 weeks ago. HST, R4 tires, quick attach loader with about 200 hours as well. I think he wanted $18K. The ad was taken down after about a week. I'm sure he sold it.
You'd never find a deal like that around here. I looked for a long time.
The extra HP is for the PTO, the hydraulic system is the same for all the "standard" L's. So you don't gain anything for the backhoe or loader work.
Mainly these smaller tractors lose traction before needing more (HP) power. What tires are you looking at getting?
If you want or need more lifting power you can jack up the hydraulic pressure (within reason).
Ag tires R1's will give you the most gripping power, industrial tires R4 are pretty bad for traction (which is why if you buy a 2 wheel drive version of these tractors, you can not get R4, it's not an option.)

Back in 2014 I bought a 2012 L4600DT gear drive with a 178 hours on it for $17,500. It had been barn stored and kept pretty good care of. Location was eastern NC.
At that time I was also looking a L3800 before running across the L4600 and the prices for gear drive back then with less than 300 hours was from 15K to 18K with no loader and no implements.

If you don't have PTO uses, then an L2501 will do pretty much everything an L3800 does. The 25HP is at the low end, so you'll also sometimes run out of power pulling a heavy load up a hill, or mowing uphill - but if you're not doing a lot of that you could just run in a lower gear. The benefit of an L2501 is obviously financing and warranty, plus a new machine that nobody has already broken things on.
