Of course you do.

You can control the position of the lift by moving the control lever to a specific position.

Cannot do that with a quarter inching valve as used on a BX.

SDT
In my book, Kubota refers to that as 'Mixed Control' I understand now, thanks.

One thing that I've found with Kubota loaders no matter what model tractor they are on and the is, the loaders can overcome the tractor weight pretty easily, especially when curling the bucket.

I've lofted the backend on my M9's on more than one occasion. Makes for tight butthole situation real quick.

I have a BX, and my B2601 will be here on Friday (fingers crossed). I have around an acre, I mow maybe 3 acres because I do some roadside and local community land. My property is flat, I have a few trees and various garden tasks, I pull the boat with the tractor occasionally. I'm upgrading because I was getting a new tractor (my BX was that gateway tractor that I bought cheap, now I've proven I need a tractor, I'm getting a new one). And if I'm buying a new tractor, the B is only slightly larger and a lot more capable. It'll do everything the BX does, but more.

I wouldn't consider a BX for a 4-5 acre property. One thing to thing about beyond those already mentioned (ground clearance, lift capacity, position control, 3ph capacity) is speed. The 3 range transmission makes a big difference, and 7 acres is enough that going 50% faster whereever you're going matters. On property that size you may have a bit of mud too, the B tires are a lot larger = more traction. It's easy to squash the BX front tires with a bit of load on the FEL.

I'm with Skeets on this. Skeets may remember how I came to own the tractor.

Would I like a bigger tractor? Of course I would. Is bigger always better? The way I see it, it depends on operator and task at hand. I acquired a BX22 with 1452 hours on the clock 7 years ago, use it on 7.5 acres mostly wooded and he's still running strong. I ran him hard for three days this past Thursday through Saturday cutting and hauling downed pine trees to the county road from my place due to Laura and Delta. Some of them 24+ inches at the base. 'Fred" would groan sometimes picking them up but he never stopped. The only thing I really really wish I had for that tractor is a grapple for the limb gathering. I"m quite happy with my BX. He does what I need when I need it done.

Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do some work with a BX. Here's my 2006 BX23 building a range backstop...

Oops, my little helper sneaked into the picture below...;)

The BX did move the logs...for real

LOL! I love it. What were you using for a counterweight?
Thats a BX25D, the Backhoe is the counter weight......

the HST on this deere quit..... it was parked down a slight hill. Moving it was gonna be a real PITA....

SO I said what the ..... I will pick it up! placed it on the trailer and a guy gave me a C-note for it .....
I was happy to get rid of that POS.

I was a little surprised it picked it up in that configuration.

I could have got by with a BX1880 wife wouldn't let me. She would only approve to buy the B2601. :)
Biggest reason being afraid of going back for bigger.

LOL @dirtydeed the dozer peering out is priceless. Were you using the BX as ballast for the dozer?

Happy we are discussing this because I'm starting to step into the "I need a bigger tractor camp..." I need to look closely but the B2601 is physically smaller than the B2650 (now LX2610)... Im being compelled by the B2601 for its slightly smaller size. Something the OP may want to think about too... Price difference around 3k (per the dealer)

B2601
Wheelbase: 61.4 inches
Length: 94.5 inches
Width: 49 inches << this is the same width as a BX with wheel spacers
Ground clearance: 12.8 inches

LX2610 (B2650)
Wheelbase: 65.6 inches
Length: 101.2 inches
Width: 53.7 inches
Ground clearance: 14.6 inches

My 2650 is my first tractor....and I have been really lucky to have it.....just the right size for the small/medium jobs I do, and big enough (power) to get them done.

I actually have only had one stubborn stump I couldn't get outa the ground......but....that's what awesome neighbor Dave is there for!!!!! (we dug around it.....cut it up....and finally called in for reinforcements)

I had a bx23s.. was a great tractor did everything I wanted except pick up heavy loads.. but i was surprised when I picked up a 800 to 1000? Pound rock with the forks, had to curl it off the pallet.. and it about lifted the back wheels off the ground even with the backhoe attached going backwards up a tiny slop.. i managed to get it where I wanted it..

I upgraded to a l2501.. i do miss the bx mostly for mowing the mmm was great compared to the 3 point finish mower on the l2501. I am considering buying another bx just to mow.. as my b7100 is pretty worn out being at least 35 years old with 2100 hours or possibly more

Saving up so i can buy it outright.. dont want anymore payments..

I'm maintaining around 5 acres pasture, 250 yd gravel driveway, trails though another 17 acres of woods. Had my B2601 about a month after much much debate on whether a BX, B or L2501 was the way to go. Probably no wrong answer but I LOVE the little B2601. I almost went with a LX2610 or L2501 which would have been great no doubt but the B2601 has exceeded every expectation so far. Tilled up and put in an acre food plot, tilled up and seeded another acre for yard where my house is under construction both with a little 4' LP tiller, bush hogged another 3 acres or so, yada yada yada. Probably could have done things a tad quicker with a LX or L but the B2601 is a GREAT little tractor and the smaller size has already been a benefit back in the "woods"!
