I had sawmilling scheduled for tomorrow and Friday. Yup, postponed until next week. After this thing passes through the customer might have more trees/logs to saw into lumber.

Came to the camp today for the first time since the hurricane. Power is still out, have a pine tree over the wires stretching them almost to the ground on one end, and a nice red oak took the lines completely out on the other end. I’m sure there is a lot more damage they are working on before they get to me though.

We have a few pines and oaks down across roads within the property but I am happy to report there is no damage to either camp or any other buildings. My brother inlaw is bringing a generator tomorrow to run the freezers and fridges.

We were supposed to disc and plant food plots this week but it’s still too wet for now. I guess we will work on clearing roads for a couple days then do the plots after it dries a bit more.

All in all I am thankful we didn’t have any damage to the camp and buildings.

It's good to hear that you dodged the storm bullet.

I am hoping that we can get our food plots planted next week after we dry out a bit.

We luckily got ours in here (Alabama) on Thursday before the storms. Ended up with about 4.25 inches of rain and now 80 outside today. Should have some great plots this year!

I subsoiled most of my plots two weeks ago so a good portion of our rain went into the ground. Hopefully I can disc by this weekend and if not, next week.

I subsoiled 1 plot that was hard packed clay, interested to see how it does this year. I will probably do the others next year.

I subsoil every plot every year.

One pass with the disc and it's ready to plant
I bought my subsoiler a couple months ago but only had time with the camp build to do the 1 plot that really needed it. I did run my discs over it before the storm and it chopped really well. Most of the rain water would just run off of it and never soak in very deep so that should help.

I like your tire drag behind the discs, I may borrow that idea lol.

I may be out of commission for a bit. Loaded my tractor on the trailer to go do some work for my brother inlaw at his camp. I hopped off the side of the trailer and landed on the edge of a 2x8 and hurt my foot. I will have it x-rayed this week to see if I possibly broke a bone or something. Getting around on crutches at the moment.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it is just a bad sprain and you will be back going in a few days.
