Hi all. New guy here in NY, looking to buy a new XG850. I'm a Truck/Jeep/Gator guy but the Gator is becoming tiresome. Looking for some "insider" spec'ing and buying tips. Please tell me that Kubota's choice of CVT clutches is better than JD? Can't stand the sticky primary any more...

I can't sat anything about XG850, just haven't seen that many of them up here. Actually none on the trails.
But their still a CTV belt drive.
I have Can-am Defender HD10 with a full cab and just can't say enough about how great this machine has been. It plows, pulls and lifts anything i can rig up it.( I just built a Deer Stand and lifted all the wall sections in place with it)
Yes it's CTV as well, but riding Snow machines and 4-Wheelers for 50+ years i kinda like the simplicity of the system, EZ to clean and fix if something goes boom.

Thanks for that. I'm not sure if the Sidekick's going to be the winner, but it's high on the list as I do my research. it's not the CVT that bothers me, it's the awful clutch mechanism that JD designed for TEAM to build for them.

We have had one for almost a year now. No issues at all. I pull my big tine harrow with it smoothing out fields. Rarely use 4wd. Plenty of suds for us

Think it was 14 loaded and street legal. Wife got every option but doors.

Thanks for that. Great price given what Kubota's build-a-bear list price is for an almost-fully-loaded model. Seems like in my area none of the dealers have any stock at all, I get to save up some more money until October. Lol...

My dealer didn't have what my wife wanted so he grabbed one from another dealer. dealers do that all the time. Only option she didn't get was the winch and the hydraulic dump bed. I added the winch (HF 5000 pound) myself and the dump isn't really needed. The bed hinge is over center so it dumps easily. She got everything, top, folding windshield, full lighting, turn signals, horn, mudflaps front and rear, Rhino lined bed, bed extender. Didn't get the alloy wheels or the bar tread tires, got the DOT approved 'worksite tires instead. No issue with traction yet. Quick too. You mash it and it puts you back in the seat. Nice vehicle, especially in Kubota Orange and black.

Before the Covid stuff, we were driving it up town for dinner all the time.

Cool, thanks. I've reached out to al the dealers independently for miles, they're all out of stock. October was the earliest delivery month (I guess they got their orders in first). the description of yours looks a lot like what I'm going to buy.

The one thing that bothered me was trying to do something like pulling into the garage and smoothly inching up close to the log splitter. The throttle felt abrupt and the engagement was jerky. Once moving along it ran fine. I ended up with a Kawasaki MULE Pro MX.

Thanks. I've been reading about that. I think there may be some kind of fix (or hack) for that sensitivity.

Yes I think I saw they have a mod for the gas pedal which should help. Not sure if it utilizes a wet clutch though.

I know there's a fix for the physical position of the pedal, we'll see about the sensitivity.
