A bit of a challenge, that went better than expected.....relocate a 8’x10’ concrete slab. We live quite rural, and burn our trash....then separating metal and glass/ash,etc. Our “burn barrel” and trash barrels were on the aforementioned concrete pad.
We recently put a swimming pool in the back yard, and were concerned about the burn barrel being upwind (generally) of the pool. Meaning.....move the pad!
First step was add a bunch of sand (removed from the back of our place) to the new location. Then lift the slab with the bucket (one corner at a time), and block with a 10” post. Placed a large “choker” around the end of slab. Secured the “choker” to tractor lift arms with chain, lifted the end of slab, and drug it about 150’ to new location. Square the slab with the tractor bucket, lifted the slab and pushed sand under slab with a garden rake in the low areas to make slab level. Used the rake to drag the excess sand around the slab and grading from ground to slab! Knocked it out in about 3 hours.....Love my Kubota! memtb
