Question about a RTV 1140 CPX

Hello all,
I just purchased a used 1140CPX and have a few questions/concerns.
Thought maybe someone here could help.
I notice that when driving and I let off the gas, this thing almost stops in it's tracks.
It is a very rapid deceleration, almost acts like the brakes are applied.
Is that normal? Shouldn't it coast a bit when the accelerator is released?

Also, I'm gonna change all of the fluids and filters.
What fluids should I use and, does anyone know if the hydraulic filters can be purchased at an autoparts store?
Possibly part numbers...
Just want to make sure it is ready to go when I haul it to the country.

Welcome to the forum. I don't own an RTV but the braking effect is a characteristic of a hydrostatic transmission which I believe you have on your machine. I have heard that Kubota got some some complaints about that and has worked on that on the newer models - not sure where your model fits in. Below is a link to a manual - it should answer alot of questions about maintenance. There are differing opinions out there but I would recommend finding a Kubota dealer and using genuine fluids / filters. With the money you just spent on the machine it is worth the few extra bucks to make it last - esp the transmission fluid / filter. SUDT2 is great stuff - esp in cold weather.

You are not letting off the gas. You are letting the directional pedal go to center. Center means stop. You need to learn to gradually, let the pedal return to center. Doing so will stop the sudden deceleration.

I think if I remember right there is a pedal that is a combo directional pedal and engine speed pedal. But the control of the transmission is the same as if it were a tractor.

Been a while since I drove a RTV. But i remember the sudden stops well. Same thing on some HST tractors.

I am sure someone will set me straight if what I remember is not accurate. Just trying to help.

I have the rtv-x900, and it does the same. Totally normal. I tell the wife to hold on or I'll flip her out the front, lol

there used to be an aftermarket coast valve kit you could order which helped alleviate it. I put one on a while back, makes a difference but when you're used to the immediate stop when you let off the pedal, you have to relearn again. It will take a while to stop. Then you get used to using the brakes and honestly the brakes are inadequate given the weight of the machine. They were designed to be used with the factory coast valve, in other words you never use the brakes, just let off the pedal and let the ol' lady flip out of the front head first into the mud when she's griping at you to slow down.

Lugbolt - That's funny, I gotta try the Ole Lady thing. Once....LOL
Since this is a new to me unit, I am servicing the unit from front to rear.
The manual I have says to put UDT in the front axle case. Is this correct? I would expect a gear oil of some type.
