Hello,

I have a Kubota L175 1976 tractor... I need to purchase an alternator... while looking for this I have come across
one but it says for a L175F ... what is the difference between a L175 and L175F?

Thanks
Angel

I cannot find a specific answer to the significance of the "F" but it likely refers to an option such as a dif lock or similar and perhaps a country model.

Kubota official parts web site do not list an F model nor do Messicks.

According to the shop manual, the original alternator is of very limited output.... i.e. 10 amps.

The voltage regulator is separate from the alternator and should be bought too.

Why do you believe you need an alternator and how was the voltage regulator determined to be OK?

There are modern alternatives which cost less and provide a much greater output.

A bit of simple wiring and perhaps a minor mounting issue.

Thanks for responding... I'm not sure if my voltage regulator is good... I'll look into replacing this first. Thanks for the help...

The letter "F" is Kubota's designation for a 2 wheel drive tractor. The L175 was only offered as a 2 wheel drive, so all L175's are L175F.

Unless you're a purist search for "hot rod" alternator. They are smaller, cheaper, and only require one wire. They come with a pulley and fit right in without any modifications.
I've been running one on my L175 for several years without any problems.
Something like this.
