I have new Fujitsu heat pumps put in last October so this is first season for cooling. One outside compressor and three different Halcyon inside units. On one of the wall mounted units, I thought it smelled like antifreeze yesterday when it was running on "dry" mode. It seems to happen when it pauses in blowing cold air for a while, and blows warmer air for a few minutes. The coolant is R410A. I called for service since I'd like to know if there is a small coolant leak, or if I am smelling something from it being damp in there. The gal taking the phone call didn't seem to think they had anything to detect the coolant in a gas phase. Using my not so good nose seems like this could be an exercise in frustration. Is there a detection device?
