Just bought a B2710HST with 900 hours. This is my first tractor and I was wondering. When I shift from 4wd to 2wd is there any kind of indicator that lets me know I've made the switch and that it has engaged? I don't want to drive around in 4wd all the time if i don't have to. I tried switching from 4wd to 2wd this past weekend and I had no idea if it actually worked or not. The lever seems to move about half way through the slot that its in. I don't know if this is normal or if it should push all the way to the 2wd side. Any information is appreciated.
I looked through the WSM wiring diagram and could find no indicator light for 4WD activation.
You are going to need an Owner's manual to properly understand your tractor.
Take a USB stick with you and go to a Kubota dealer and ask if they can put the Operator's manual on the stick.
Make it clear you do not want the Workshop manual as that is what most people are looking for and that comes at a cost.
Normally, if you operate in 4WD on hard surfaces, it is obvious something is not right as the steering and tractor movement when turning are rough.
The common issue with owners is that the tractor does not want to come out of 4WD. Since you have a loader, by lowering the loader arms and with the bucket flat on the ground roll the bucket forward. Usually this method will lift the front wheels off the ground, remove any windup stresses in the gear train and allow the gears to come out of 4WD.
If you can lift the front wheels, backup and watch if one or both front wheels rotate. If yes then 4WD is engaged.
