BX2660 won't start and panel dead

Sunday, I mowed about 20 minutes. Got off the tractor to move a hose out of the way. When I tried to restart, it would not catch thanks to the wonderful safety plungers, this time on the pto engager. Turned the switch off, yanked back on the engager, still only a click. Turned switch off again, yanked the engager as far back and and as close to me as I could, and tried to restart - with almost zero time since the last starting attempt. Heard a loud click, and everything went dead. No panel lights, no nothing. Oddly, temp gauge is still up high, to this day (Tuesday.)
Yesterday, called my Kubota dealer and they suggested a blown fuse between the alternator and starter, a 50 amp slow blow type. Ok, got one, installed it, and no change. Hmmm. Used an ohmmeter and checked the original one and it's fine!
So now, I am completely lost as to what to do. Can't really afford to take it to a shop if at all possible. Called the dealer back but got a different service person this time and he wasn't much help at all.
So please, if you have any clue what I should do next, please help! Grass is getting too high!

Had a similar experience a couple of years back with my L3200, ended up with the dealer sending out their truck to take my tractor in. The dealer's truck driver said maybe you have the starter wiring issue that many Kubota's have, he asked me to try to start it and he moved the wiring connection at the starter motor (small group of thin wires), my tractor fired right up. I let him take it as it was due for some service work, the dealer "repaired my wiring issue" for a minimal charge, never had a problem again! Apparantly the truck driver must have seen this problem across a range of Kubota tractors.

Otherwise check the other safety switches, check your battery

In your case I am inclined to recommend jumping the starter.

This is a procedure which is easily done but which bypasses any safety system on your tractor and needs to be done while exercising great caution.

Have someone knowledgeable in the driver's seat, pto off, foot on the brake.

The starter solenoid has a small wire, likely black with a white stripe. Disconnect this wire.

Look at the marked up photo of a starter showing what terminals need to be momentarily touched together.

You can use a screw driver, a piece of wire.... expect a small spark. The starter should engage and immediately begin to crank the engine for as long as the JUMP is made.

If the engine cranks, now you know the problem is in the circuitry feeding the starting system which involves the key switch, many safety switches and the Operator presence Controller.

If the engine cranks, repeat the jumping procedure this time with the key switch in the ON position.
