Hey guys,

I messed up and bought pallet forks form my L2900 that don't quite fit. It's a pin-on style. It's only off by 1/4''-1/2''. I'm looking for opinons as to whether it's worth trying to modify, or look for a new set. Adjustable loader style forks are almost impossible to source anymore. I'm really not interested in converting to quick attach. Please see attached two pics. Thanks!

From the view in the second picture I would say the error occurred when it was welded together. I would return the unit for one that is put together correctly. The plate that holds the pin is at an angle and thus makes the opening for the loader arms top small. This is a manufacturers defect and they SHOULD eat the cost to replace it.

I should explain better....I purchased the forks used. I didn't have a tape measure with when i purchased them. I used the measuring app on my phone instead (mistake). I was just wondering if it was worth the trouble to cut the one side off and re-weld it over a 1/2''?

Your photo makes the inner plate look like it’s a at an angle, bad fabrication? If you can do the work yourself and have time it should be worth doing the correction. I hope you got a deal on the purchase.

good luck sorting things out.

Looks like you have no other choice unless you revert to a modified quick-attach.

If you do not have the skills or equipment to fix your forks hire a fab shop to fix it for you. It is a shame that someone would sell that knowing that it is defective.

There is a guy that makes an add on to the front loader that would work as an almost quick attach. Just in case you get tired of changing the pins.

You might still try to contact the builder and see if he will correct his mistake. And post the brand name so others will know to look out for problems.

To answer your question, yes. If you have a grinder and some welding skills this would be an easy project. This is assuming a tab can be welded on the square tube frame with enough clearance for the pin. Make a spacer to limit movement of the loader arms. Pin material should be of good quality like 4140.
