B6200E Bad Water Pump?

I'm asking this question on behalf of my 74 year old dad. We are trying to figure out if we've got a bad water pump on his B6200E with a D850 engine. He had it overheat and boil the water out after he broke the fan belt. We are pretty sure the engine is ok. We worked all day yesterday trying to get a new fan belt on it (I know probably an hour job for some, but we are cursed). Got the fan belt installed and it fired right up. He ran it for about 5 minutes and it started steaming out of the radiator. The radiator fan wasn't moving, but the belt was still spinning over the top pulley. He turned it off for a few minutes and it didn't want to start. We think the battery needs charging. So we jump started it and it ran again. But the fan wasn't moving and we turned it off after a few seconds. The weird thing is, when you just begin to start it the fan moves.

He is running a 50x50 mix of water and anti-freeze.

Any ideas here? If it is a bad water pump, what part number will I be look for online... and from where should I purchase it?

Thanks for all the help!

Messicks.com is a good place to buy Kubota parts.

I looked on their web site for B6200E and then things get confusing. There are both thermosyphon models and water pump models and I cannot see any way to tell which version of the B6200E has which.

Most B's are thermosyphon which relies on the different densities of water hot/cold to provide circulation and there is no pump.

When I use the B6200E water pump parts number and search for the tractors it fits, it does not list the B6200E which makes it even more unlikely you have a water pump on your Dad's tractor.

Regardless, something is wrong if the fan is not spinning as with both models it is directly bolted to the pulley the V belt runs on.

When the fan is not spinning is the V belt moving?

The radiator fins must be very clean for the thermosyphon system to work.

Like Dave stated they used are both types of systems, water pump and Thremo sipon, on that model.
A serial number would help ar a simple picture of the pulley and front of the engine and we could tell you the differance.

Thermo sipon model, the fan pulley is actually the dynamo, that's used for charging.

A water pump version will have the dynamo off to the top or the side.

If it is the waterpump version here is what you will need.

If it's a thermo sipon version, we'll need more information to get you the right parts to fix it!

I think the serial number is B6200E10021. This number is right about the model plate that has info about the engine. It's also in between 2 Kubota stamps in the block. I can get a picture of the pump maybe tomorrow. Thank you both for the help! I know we need all the assistance we can get!:)

Tough to tell from the pics for sure, but it looks like yours is a thermo siphon unit. That item that your fan is attached to is the dynamo (if there is a few wires coming out of it), which charges your battery - you mentioned the battery might need charging, maybe the dynamo is piled up.
Loosen the belt and see if it spins freely.

Here are the pictures of the pump and serial number.

Thanks again for the help!
Your dad's tractor is has a Thermo Siphon cooling system that does not have a water pump. As your picture shows, the Dynamo is mounted to the front of the cylinder head where a water pump would commonly be.

The bearings in the Dynamo have seized which is keeping the cooling fan from turning and causing the overheating problem an is also not charging the battery.

You will need to replace the dynamo, fan belt, and gasket between the Dynamo and cylinder head.
Looks like you might want to disassemble the dynamo and see if all it needs is the bearings replaced.

Dynamo.....15231-64012...$1014.13:eek:
Gasket.......15231-72920........$2.50
Fan Belt.....15231-72530........$9.85

If you are a bit handy you can disassemble the dynamo and replace the three bearings.

Two bearings are together and shown as #60 and one as #120.

They are all the same size and can be bought at any local bearing place if you bring in the old ones.
