I had my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was 7 years old, and to this day I remember the smell of the ether when they gave it to me, the crazy dream I had while under, and how sick I was when I regained consciousness. Nasty stuff.

Good for getting tubeless truck tire beads to seat, too. Scares the crap out of a lot of people.
If you felt that you were dying of the Wuhan flu, and your doctor said "Here, take a hit of this". Would you?

I would, and fully remember those same tonsil/ adenoid dreams...
The nurse promised me all the ice cream I wanted..I was tricked!. I didn't want ANY!

I listened to the same press conference, and you're right he did not directly tell anyone to inject bleach. He did however suggest that some one try out the idea of taking "disinfectant" internally, and to figure out how to illuminate the the inside of the body to kill the virus. "Like a cleaning". It followed a discussion with someone else regarding disinfecting surfaces, which might involve bleach and Lysol. He seemed to be extrapolating from one thing to another. What he said was foolish and naive, and the press has had a field day with it. What he says is bad enough, no need to make it worse.
Finally someone who actually listens and hears what is really said, good on you sheepfarmer.

Why not actually read the transcript ? There actually is a treatment used on leukemia patients where your blood is circulated out to a heat treatment & returned . You sit there for several hours. One of my employees did this once a week for 3 months till another Specialist found he had a bad spleen & not leukemia

I will have to agree with NHSleddog's "loosing the handshake" statement.

I have always considered a firm handshake at the beginning and ending of a job an important part of that job. It's a contract in the beginning and a seal of approval at the end. Yes, I have shaken a few hands during this week.

Unfortunately, the reality of what he said is not what the talking heads pushed for days. I suppose the MSM pushing the incorrect narrative was helpful to someone but NOT Americans. How did twisting the truth to make him look bad benefit ANY of us?
The only benefits are to make it clear to the folks that don't grasp the idea that disinfectants as a group are toxic to living cells, and when taken internally will kill you. Lysol and bleach are disinfectants. Anything that will kill a wide variety of bacteria and viruses on a surface is almost certain to damage your cells too. The outer surface of people, animals, the skin or integument , is made up of many layers of already dead cells and is therefore more protective. The cells that line your mouth, gut, blood vessels are alive and are readily damaged. Afraid that is not clear to all too many Americans.

As I said before, what Trump said was foolish, and unfortunately dangerous. I also wish the press would take a more measured approach since now too many people don't pay attention when they should.

The same thing goes for his "try it you might like it" comments on hydroxychloroquine, which has as the recent trials show, to be dangerous to use in high doses, especially in combination with other antiviral meds. This stuff ain't simple! Trump doesn't seem to get it, and is so eager to push out "good news" he makes a fool out of himself.

Just ANOTHER example of misleading trope.

And again, how does twisting his words in a dishonest way benefit any of us? How does changing his words or meaning to make him look bad benefit any of us?

You seem to miss the entire point or are intentionally avoiding it.

No, the quotes are sarcasm on my part. Sorry. As explained above what he did say was quite stupid enough.

I suppose most of the made up stuff in the "News" is sarcasm as well. And during a pandemic no less.

My point stands. Fake news (and there are a lot of examples of it) is the enemy of freedom. "News" outlets should not be able to hide behind the second amendment, they should be held to a higher standard. IMO - the second amendment is to allow guys like you to make stuff up (as it should be) and not to protect a (knowingly) lying news outlet.

I'd say it's pretty evident where Sheepfarmer stands politically and it's not where I stand. Probably pretty tickled with the Michigan governor as well. the Governor that is playing with fire over Line 5 in the Straits.

I don't vote party but I do vote on past performance and any product of the Wayne County political cabal is a no vote for me.

While neither here nor there,, it appears that SF's political leanings are based on past practice as well but I don't agree with Whitmer's past practice at all.

I basically side with her EO's concerning Covid but I think she went a bit too far in her apparent power grab. Drunk with power is no way to govern any state and is why Lee Chatfieleld (Republican majority Senate leader) proposed a amendment limiting the scope of her EO powers. Of course she'll veto it but it can go to an override vote, just like the Republican (and Democrat) backed insurance reform package did. They overrode her veto.

She had the unmitigated gall to come out and brag about she 'reached across the aisle' to get it done. She didn't reach anywhere, what really happened was she got her wings clipped.

She also got 'sheared' over road repair funding over money for education. Roads here are shot but education is largely supported by local millage and the MTA teachers union holds an iron grip on public education as well.

Whitmer is a rank amateur when it comes to governing Michigan and I did not and will not and never will support her antics.

Ain't no 'supposing' about it. It plays out every day, all one has to do is tune into CNN or any other 'news' network and listen to their 'spin' on stuff. I don't tune in. I can make my own judgments without some clown making them for me.

What has my right to bear arms got to do with my saying what I think? I don't generally make stuff up, and usually provide a reference if I can.

Additionally, I view Trump's pressers and just about everything else political on C-Span because there is never any 'spin'. Just the content devoid of any 'opinion'. I can form my own opinions, I'm a big boy and I don't need to be lead around by the nose. :)

Here is a verbatim copy of the conversation. Bill Bryan leads the Science and Technology Directorate at the Department of Homeland Security and now will make a presentation on their recent study. He just finished his presentation..... (going back to the link in post #91 you can read the entire meeting words by everyone there.)

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you, Bill.

Q Mr. Bryan —

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you very much. So I asked Bill a question that probably some of you are thinking of, if you’re totally into that world, which I find to be very interesting. So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light — and I think you said that that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it. And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way, and I think you said you’re going to test that too. It sounds interesting.

ACTING UNDER SECRETARY BRYAN: We’ll get to the right folks who could.

THE PRESIDENT: Right. And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that. So, that, you’re going to have to use medical doctors with. But it sounds — it sounds interesting to me.

So we’ll see. But the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute, that’s — that’s pretty powerful.

Steve, please.

Q You’re saying that the country will be in a better place by early summer. Does that mean you’re going to need to extend the social distancing guidelines until then?

So the President makes comments based on what he asked Bill.

Sure looks to me like reporters said what they wanted to so the President can be ridiculed.

I do not see where "what Trump said was foolish, and unfortunately dangerous." Please point out specifically what he said, not what was reported to have been said.

It is quite a stretch to move a conversation that references "light therapy" over to hypodermic injections of chlorine bleach, on the suggestion of "disinfectant.

Those "reporters" are shams that don't get out much.

Open carry is 100% legal here so no issue with that. Big issue with acting like an idiot and that is exactly what transpired there.

Your second blue high lighted sentence, " and then I see the disinfectant ....by injection inside or almost a cleaning. " You cannot inject a disinfectant inside the body by any means without causing harm. Disinfectant has a specific meaning of a class of chemicals, it is not for example the same as antibotic or antiviral. Disinfectants include clorox and lysol.

I understand the next sentence " Because you see it gets in the lungs, that by "it" he means the virus. There were no previous examples in the discussion where a disinfectant was in the lungs.

Yes, he was just musing out loud and everyone jumped on him with both feet because in front of a national audience he made a fool out of himself. I would feel sorry for him, but he has said and done so many mean and nasty things about other people that it is hard. To reply to Flip, don't make assumptions about political stance. In this case I don't suffer fools gladly on topics I know something about, which is biology and science.
