I use my BX25 mostly to deal with snow. This little tractor can move an incredible amount of snow when given the time to do it.
My question is regarding dumping the snow load. I have gotten into the habit of letting the bucket "Bang" when dumping as it loosens the snow that sticks to the inside of the bucket. What risk am I running here? Does this stop at the end of the cylinder stoke?

Thanks

Probably not good for it but I'd bet most on here bang the bucket (occasionally) to remove snow, dirt, sand, etc.

Look closely at the loader in dump or curl for that matter, there should be stops on the arms that stop the bucket from bottoming out the cylinder.
So no you won't hurt it to hit the stops hard.
I do that all the time to clean out the bucket on all sorts of materials.

I try to avoid banging it, but accidentally bang it sometimes, the stops look pretty rugged. It looks to me the stops are not far from the pivot points, so there’s got to be lots of force on them when it bangs.

I would try not to bang it but if it happens once in awhile there should be no harm done. You can tip it over and shake the bucket to get things to move. There would be a little wear and tear but what good is a tractor if you do not use it.

I do not live in snow country anymore however I was thinking you could wax the bucket to make the snow release better from the bucket. I was thinking of a liquid floor wax poured into the bucket and a rag to wipe it around to cover the inside. Maybe someone else knows of a better wax to use. The floor wax would be a lot easier then an auto paste wax to apply. Also you could spray the bucket with Pam as a release agent. I do not think it would last very long.

I do wax the inside for snow release. I use car wax. Haven’t had snow in 2 years, though. Can’t remember what the stuff is like.

I do slam the bucket down when needed. Will shake it if that’ll do the job, but sometimes it doesn’t.

It’s part of operation of an FEL. For the hours on a homeowner’s machine, I consider the wear/tear to be negligible.

I generally don't dump the bucket to the stops, but will abruptly stop and start the dump process to shake material out. I don't know which is worse (if at all).
It's also more time consuming to dump the bucket to the stops.

You could also try spraying the FEL with one of those specialty sprays like either Snow-jet or Dupont Snow and Ice. They work pretty good for snowblowers, so they might make the frequency of FEL "banging" a bit less.
