I tried asking this on another forum but just got a few responses from people wanting to rehash the subframe discussion. Hoping someone may have some input on the question I was asking.

Here’s something I’ve wondered for a long time and haven’t seen mentioned here or in any operator manuals I’ve looked through.

When operating a 3pt mounted backhoe (BH4672 in my case) the 3pt hitch has an inch or two travel between the bottom (relaxed) position or top of it’s travel limited by the backhoe frame. Obviously you don’t want it driving up against a hard stop but it does take a little movement out of the setup having some lift on it.

What is preferable or correct? What would put more stress on the tractor?

I do have the Kubota rail kit and the heavy duty wraparound top link bracket they recommend but curious about this detail of operating.

If my understanding is correct when properly set up, you should be setting the lift arms down so the the BH is resting on the center rail and not on the lift arms.

But I will note I would have to see you exact setup as there are several variants to the supports.

The below attachment is from the B4672A, BL4690A operators manual about TPH, don't know how close it is to yours though.

This is the way I have always operated my 4690A on my B2910. One time I forgot to lower the 3PH lever after installing the backhoe and had an issue. I forget what it was, but it had something to do with tractor operation, not backhoe operation.

I asked a question and was told to check my 3PH lever position, and indeed I found I had forgot to lower it after installing the backhoe. After putting the lever in the lowest position, the problem i was having disappeared.

So I would say just put the 3PH lever all the way down and do not worry further...:)

Thanks for that.

They are nearly identical and I’ve read the manual it came with cover to cover and upside down but couldn’t find that.

Thanks, that's what I thought I remembered what it should be!

NOTE: You don't want it in the up position, as that it will deadhead the pump against the relief valve, as if it hasn't reached the stop on the feedback linkage, and it keeps putting fluid to it!

I had the same hoe, first on my B7100. On it the dealer set it up and they had just a slight amount of lift on the 3pt arms and then set the lock both up and down so the lever couldn't be moved.

When I changed it over to my L3000 I would lift it a little then set my lower stop and let it back down. My 3pt arms only carried a small amount of weight. it didn't seem right to have a 1000 lb backhoe hanging on just the center pins.
