I went back over the posts and found that this is just a 1.5 HP motor so the easy, simple, cheap solution is to just buy a 120/240 volt 1 1/2 HP single phase motor. Even top of the line TEFC ( Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) ones are about $250 Canucks. That size, south of the 49th will be cheaper, maybe $100 USD for a used one. Heck buy an 'used/abused' air compressor at yardsale for $50, if it has the same speed ! I've got 2 on the shelf here, too bad you weren't next door.
The thing is , these motors are COMMON, 'dime a dozen'.
The problem with buying the phase convertor is cost and install. $90 + taxes, shipping, etc... AND you do NOT KNOW if the 3 phase motor IS good ! If it's bad, you just blew $100 + time for nothing.
What we don't know is the motor style ( frame #), ie HOW it's connected to the machine. It could be as simple as 4 bolts and pulley install....
Even though I have 3 phase 'at the pole', until I need 10HP motors, I run everything on 240, single phase.
