B2650 black diesel exhaust

Snow packed into the air cleaner from being sucked into intake tube caused black smoke and power loss on my B2650. Pushed the open end of the intake tube rearwards off the top of the rad and down, slightly behind the top of the rad where it stayed in place and never had the snow in the intake issue again.

Myself, I kind of like to see some black smoke. Tells me the engine is working hard and making power like it should... oops, I forgot, we are talking about a new common rail unit, not my ancient mechanical injection smokers...lol

Good video. Everything I own makes particulates, some more than others. I don't advocate 'rolling coal' for no reason though. I roll coal when necessary only........

Bought this on Amazon, silicone adapter for a turbo. About $8.00 US.

Used stainless screws, top and bottom.

The interior became brittle, got too hot I assume.

Bought the metal pipe linked and just got it.

Got time on my hands so I'll try it and report back.

Sure thing. I wound up throwing a hose clamp on mine, but they fit pretty tightly. I haven't had to clean the loader arm or bucket since...
Here's a couple of pics of what it looks like installed...

I ordered the same setup and just installed it today. What a night and day difference! It cleaned up the loader arms and grapple hoses nicely. Wish it came standard.

For those of you that like a smokey old diesel engine, watch a old English lister diesel on a generator or etc under heavy load.. and the air cooled knock is just music to my ears

Naturally aspirated Listers and Hatch's smoke a lot when loaded. Love that smell too.

They do have a unique smell.. not like a normal diesel smell.. makes me want to go start up mine.. ill post a video of one.. have 4 as of now

Ooo boy I don't remember.. have not looked at the i.d tag in years.. think its 12 kw.. single phase.. yes 1800 rpm. Bought it from a fire station in thousand oaks ca.. something like 500 original hours. One of the cleanest older (late 80s) lister diesels I've seen.. i have a few from the 50s and 60s and they like to mark there territory with diesel or oil

I received the same Camco extension you used. I haven't played with it a lot, but I am not sure that the extension is going to fit over the existing exhaust pipe easily.

It looks like you may have cut some "slits" on the end of the pipe to allow it to stretch over the pipe.

Is that correct? Or did it ease over the existing exaust pipe with some force and wiggling?

I think i did cut a slit in the pipe with a hacksaw. Just cut thru to the other side like you were going to bisect the pipe. You could maybe flip the pipe end for end if needed. I can't recall if the larger diameter end was "to large". Either way, don't sweat it. It's a 1/2 beer 5 min job at most. You'll get it and it should work out just fine for you.

Thanks for that info. Yes, the large flared end is too large and just wobbles on the pipe. So I will have to use the small end as you did.

I'll break out the 'ole hacksaw and have at it.

When I saw the photos you supplied, it looked like you had cut some slits to make the pipe expand a little to go over the existing pipe.

Besides the black soot, I have an odor of diesel in the cab and am hoping re-directing the exhaust a little further away from the tractor may help. I also installed a "charcoal" air filter to replace the cab air filter. It has helped a little.
