Hi fellas. Just wondering if anyone knows the amperage of the alternators on the B2601's. The heater I have inside my soft cab seems to be killing the battery. It's 300W. I'm looking to figure out an appropriate wattage heater to buy. Thanks in advance.

It has a dynamo rather than an alternator. they are about 14 amps so won't run much of a heater! Kubota have a kit to convert to a proper alternator Kit #B7311 at the sales department ( It is a whole good item)

In case you never calculated it out, your 300 watt heater draws about 25 amps at 12 volts.

If you are trying to heat a tractor cab with an electric heater, in my opinion it will never do the job. 300 watts is very little heat. You could invest $ in a bigger alternator and still be unhappy.

You need a heater which utilizes the engine coolant.

There are a variety of aftermarket heaters that may work for you. Below is an example and there are many other form factors and output ratings out there. Even some nice ones for side by sides out there.

You should still get the alternator kit! The original barely could keep the battery charged in the summer with the lights on, it will not run the fan on any of those heaters and have enough left to charge the battery. you might like to add some lights too for working in winter.

I completely agree with the alternator recommendation. Apologize if my post made it sound like it was a standalone solution.

Hey Wayne
I’m interested in the alternator also. Can you tell me how much it cost? And did you order it from the dealer? My dealer seems pricier then most!
Thanks Ditchdigger

Call you local dealer, ask for sales (not parts department) and give them a Wholegoods item listed in post 2. I wouldn't expect the price to be too different as they are working from the same price list.

To save of shipping costs. Ask them to ship with a "stock order". It might take an extra week or two to receive, but the savings might be worth it to you.

Here is my posting for my dynamo to alternator conversion. https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36016

Only other thing I did was ditch the dipstick and tube for the conversion because it makes you pull the side panel just to check the oil. That's a good excuse to NOT check the oil and lose an engine. So I took my stock dip stick and bent it around and cut off the mounting bracket for the tube and relocated it. Now I lift the hood and the dip stick is right there.

Hi Ditchdigger. I went to the dealer and gave them the part number listed above by the first guy that responded to my post. They confirmed that it is a correct fit and they ordered it for me. I’m going to install it as soon as it comes in. I’ll let you know how it went.

Is there a reason you didn’t want to answer his first/main question “How much did it cost?”

The information is from an older Wholegoods price list, but it should give you a rough idea as to the cost of the kit through Wholegoods. If you call parts it will be a much higher price, so be specific to speak with the sales department.

B7311 is a wholegoods item number, not a part number!

From Wholegoods price list (2015)

HIGH CAPACITY ALTERNATOR KIT
B7311 10 $192.00
B1700, B2100, B2400, B2410,
B7500, B7510, B7610, B2320
B2620, and B2920

B7324 10 $199.00
HIGH CAPACITY ALTERNATOR KIT
(B2710, B2910, B7800,B2630HSD,
B2620, and B2920,B3030HSD (Std. on B3030/B3000HSDC,
B3200, B3300SU)

Parts:
Using Messick's they show the following information for a kit though Part Department:

KIT, ALTERNATOR
- replaces #6C040-95300
6C040-95302 $652.83 5-7 business days 1 to equal #6C040-95300

$192 vs $652.83??? Make certain you call the right department!

Hope this helps in some small way.

Added in edit: August 2017 still shows the price as $192.00 and has other tractor models listed (2301, 2601, 2320)

Ditchdigger54, you do realize the wholegoods item I posted above is for the entire kit and includes everything needed for the conversion and it's under $200. Kubota can't make it much easier.
