Buy Now or Wait?

Trying to decide if I should buy now or wait until the spring. A dealer near me has an MX5800, and right now they have 1.99% for 84 months, 6 year warranty, and $1,500 rebate. That is on top of some money dealer is giving off (about another $1,500).

If I wait until the spring will I be able to get similar incentives? I feel like Kubota always has good finance offers. Is the 6 year warranty something they commonly do? If I wait until the spring I would get the new MX6000, so
maybe less incentives with the new model?

When I build an MX6000 it has an MSRP only $600 higher than the MX5800.

A for sure deal is always better than a maybe deal. Think that covers your dilemma.

You may get a better deal at the end of the year than in the spring when things start moving. Then again, maybe not. Will there be a difference on your taxes either way? i think Kubotas have a six year warranty but you may wish to check for sure. Good luck either way.

OK, I'll ask a silly question...
How much real work have you got to do before Spring (+- 90 days from now) ?
Simple 'logistics' problem. IF you can hold off until Spring, they'll be deals for sure BUT does waiting 90 days delay or set back 'projects' that should ( could) have been done ? Then the 'domino dilemma'. If you delay a project now, does it delay a future project, cause in Spring you've got 2 'on the go' and no time ?

I am not tax exempt, so tax implication is the same buying now or waiting.

The only thing I would use it for in the next 90 days is snow blowing, which I have a tractor I can currently do that with.

Did you call Keith at Carelton like I told you to?

Far as being exempt in Michigan, if you own more than 7 acres and are in an AG1, Ag2 or reserve ag, you are exempt.

Keith has the forms and if you want to you can swing by here and I'll make a copy of one for you. I have them here. I keep them handy for when I buy stuff for the farm.

We aren't having any snow anyway. if you have more than I do, 7 miles away, I'd be surprised. Cold maybe, snow... nope.

Build price on the Kubota website and actual dealer price are 2 different animals.

Yeah, I'm kinda wondering the same thing...
Does the price drop on the 5800 the same as it would on last year's model car?
I talked to a dealer today, prior to learning of the MX6000 and he did not say anything about it and suggested that the price on the 5800 would not be going down due to the year change...

It is open field (16-17 acres) that I mow and the rest is ponds and woods. I do not produce any income from the land.

Ownership is all you need. IOW in Michigan it's not necessary so long as the land is contiguous to your residence or you can have other property not contiguous, which I do.

You might want to look at his used inventory. he has some nice, low hour trade in's that are not Tier 4 final units and in your location and the proximity of dealers to you, not buying a Tier 4 final unit could be a distinct advantage.

No one can predict what the Kubota incentives will be next quarter or the following.

That said, December is usually one of the very best times to buy farm equipment. Spring is usually one of the worst.

I bought my tractor back in May using the 1.99% for 84 months offer. When they ran my credit and we bagan the paperowork it actually came back at like 1.68% for 84 months. I asked the dealer why did it come in lower than the offer? He just kinda shrugged and gave no real answer, so I actually got it at that lower interest rate. I just figured I'd mention this to you, as every litttle bit helps - perhaps you can also get something better than 1.99% to sweeten the deal even more.

To be fair, the dealer does not know the 2020 incentives. I was told that late 2018 for the year 2019 with my particular setup, but as far as I can tell, they have not changed.

Other than some end of the year or Xmas rushes, it is better to get your new tractor prepped when the dealership shop is not buried under work like it is in the spring. Assuming their techs have some civilized indoor work space.
