Our m 9000 has developed an oil leak from the front crankshaft seal. It's pretty steady. Can anybody tell me if that seal can be replaced without removing front cover? I'm going to need a repair manual to do this job. Any recommendations? I'm unsure about these various online manuals, prefer hard copy and even that is daunting. Any assistance is appreciated.

Yes, you can replace that seal without removing the cover. Just remove the pulley and pry the seal out then carefully tap a new one in there, and replace the pulley. A little tight but doable
As eserv states, it's relatively easy. You need to remove the lower perforated screen between the frame rails, loosen the alternator and AC compressor belts (if you have an ac), remove the pulley / balancer nut and pull the pulley / balancer with a gear puller (don't pry it off, use a puller, pop the old seal out and put a new one in. I'd use a seal driver or suitable socket myself.
Be sure to clean the seal mating surfaces and drain out some of the oil first (ir you'll have a mess on the floor. A dealer will have the seal. I think they are about 15 bucks. Just replaced mine on my M9.

I might add that if it's been leaking for a while, I'd look at the seal mating surface on the pulley for a groove. If it has a pronounced groove, a new pulley might be in order. Don't believe Kubota offers a wear sleeve for it.
I should check this to be sure but, if I remember correctly they have a wear sleeve inside that seal.
Been a while, I don't remember honestly. My OS 9 has to go in for the left outboard planetary upper bushing. it's getting sloppy and I don't have the tools to replace it. I'll get the overhead run at the same time. 4000 hours, things do wear out.
