My newly acquired dump trailer recommends these oils:
Chevron Rando HDZ
Mobil DTE10 Mobil DTE20
Amsoil
Shell Tellus
I cannot find any of these in less than 5gal or 55gal sizes, and I probably only need a quart or single gallon to have on hand. (reservoir is less than a quart)
There seems to be no definitive crossover or equivalent charts for these oils.
Current fluid is clear and thin, I'd guess 10w.
Anybody have any insight?

If you bought new at dealer, HE should have given you a free quart......
I use 'universal tractor hydraulic' fluid in everything around here since 2000 when i got my first tractor.

I thought so too, even offered to buy one, but they only had 5 gal buckets. I guess I beat him up too much on the deal for anymore freebees. Maybe I should take a container to him & have him fill it.

And another question. "Amsoil" seems pretty vague. Doesn't Amsoil make lots of different oils?

you shouldn't mix different 'oils'.....best to drain, flush and refill, then mark on device WHAT oil's inside.....

I admit I hadn't checked MSC, because I got tired of them being VASTLY over priced on machining supplies.

Sheesh, something so simple turned out to be a PITA! Every place I tried had their particular brand oil, but none could tell me if it was equivalent to the recommended oils from my manual. Called all of the recommended oil companies & they could not tell me if their oils where compatible with anyone else's oils.
No one seemed to know much of ANYTHING about hydraulic oil, period.
They seemed to be equally divided between "You can mix any of them" and "Never mix oils, the world will come to an end". Called the manufacturer of the hydraulic pack & they could not help other than to tell me to call the trailer builder, they said they ship them dry to the trailer manufacturer.
Called LoadTrail and they said they use Mobil NUTO H32 (not even mentioned in the manual) and to not mix oils under any circumstances.
I found a gallon of the Mobil Nuto H32 on eby for $41.40 shipped, seemed high, but I was tiring of the hunt, so it's on the way.

You know of course that since you have the proper oil, you'll never need it.

Hi Folks;
My BX2370 needs a little top-up of Hydraulic fluid. My dealer does not carry "Super UDT-2" fluid. They suggest any 'good' fluid. I am looking for a readily available substitute, (from Walmart etc), as I am out in the sticks.
I gather SUDT-2 is synthetic? but I am unclear as to viscosity, if this is a spec that also needs to be considered.
Thanks for any guidance, Peter in Canada

PS; the Tractor is 2013 vintage with only 120 hours, but I am not adverse to changing all the fluid, replacing the filter (I believe I should have done this at 50 hours) and cleaning the strainer.

Get a jug of 'universal tractor hydraulic oil'.. wallyworld +-$50 for 5 G pail, blk pail, yellow lid ( I think)((pretty sure...)).
I've topped up my dump trailer with it, it's everywhere in 4 D-14s here, forklift, etc.

Princess Auto sell it as well, and Cdn tire too.....

Whichever is closest to you....looks like you're in the 'ski belt' !

Thanks Jay; I forgot about Princess Auto, I will look for synthetic if they have it. I will still have to hit the dealer for a filter unless I can find a non-Kubota equivalent for that too.
Any thoughts on synthetic vs (standard)?

Yes, I'm in the ski hills, north of Barrie. Thanks for the help, Peter

Put the Kubota part number for your filter into the Wix filter look up reference, and it will tell you the Wix part number. https://www.wixfilters.com/Lookup/filterlookup.aspx You will need to look under Off-Highway Equipment, or you can also use the NAPA website to look up your tractors filter part numbers. Let your fingers do the walking! :D

Synthetic will be better at high temperatures(good for HST), though for dump trailer use, a waste of money IMO. Choose the oil good for -20C - +30C more or less, so that it'll flow easily all year round.

If its going in a BX, I would just make sure it meets the Kubota SUDT or Deere J20C/J20D standard (should say that on the bucket/jug label).
