Parts availability for grey market Kubotas.

Me being an orange fan and thus having an interest in the vintage and/ or Japanese market stuff, Im curious how difficult it is to find parts for these. Its my understanding that while some models can be cross referenced to US equivalents, others cant. I have also read that technically a dealer isnt supposed to help you or sell parts to you if it’s for a GM Kubota.

Obviously many people here have them. If you could pick any used model you want, would you go GM again? That said, whats the general consensus on one of these vs a US model?

Dlundblad, when you title a thread it will be a benefit to folks in the future when they are searching for answers to have the thread clearly state the subject. Folks looking for any information on grey market tractors will not be lead to this thread with the title stating "GM".

Your second and third sentences are true. That's the challenge of owning a grey market machine.

The one grey market tractor I would not want to fiddle with is a B6000, unless just wanting a parade tractor. Finding a reverser for implements is nearly impossible, so using the tractor as a tractor is limited.

There are several of the grey market model that are really hard to get parts for.

I've been doing this quite a while and was just introduced to a L35, no not the commercial model L35, this was OLD and very very rare model L35, predated the L210 by a few years.

I saw GM and first thought General Motors. I have a grey market Mitsubishi. It's been quite reliable but is getting really difficult to source some parts. This year I got a Kubota L2501. There's a world of difference there -it's amazing what fifty years of change can do. Would I go grey market again? For the price difference and affordability at the time yes I probably would. It has given me fifteen years of mostly good service. I can weld and do my own repairs which is the only reason it worked for me.

I tried googling it and couldnt even find a photo. Very rare indeed.

I haven't had problems getting parts for mine but I don't think I'd go gray again. I don't like having to walk into the dealer and asking for a part for an L175, changing the subject when they ask about the serial number etc.

I have never been asked, I just go in with the part numbers and order?

I think they ask the serial number because my local dealer has created a profile for each of my tractors and what parts I have bought for it, just as a way of tracking things should I need the parts again, or if it needs to be serviced, etc. Sometimes there is also a serial number split which is another reason they may ask.

My dealer has sold me parts in the past, no problem however they cannot WORK on them. If caught they can lose their dealership, ouch !
The 'trick' to get parts is to find what else they fit into,so if asked it's for xxx not yyy.

So from what I have been reading we can go to a Kubota dealer and order parts in Canada ?

That's what I do as well, but if I had a non gray,I'd go in and ask for whatever part I needed without the part number.

See if you can find a serial number here?

My older G tractors do have some serial number specific part numbers. Hopefully since things were simpler then and there arent too many differences.
