My first Cyl. seal job!

Issue: Hydraulic Boob Swing Cylinder from a Backhoe 4590 leaks. Images in link below.
simple question.. I took off/out the 4 end bolts and rods. But how do I get one of the cylinder end off this thing to get into replacing the seals???

Cylinder Drawing in link below as well!
I noticed 1 end of Cyl. has a shaft extension internally on the R side (? so I think?).
Thinking that one of these ends unscrew but which one? Feels like the R. should and then pull the whole thing out? but hate to mess this up so thought I would just ask.

Re: Trick for stiff Glands Seals. How to get Hydraulic Cyl apart? Threaded? w/ Pics

I found this trick on the web... (Pic attached). After 20mins trying to heat and twist and a thick seal popping out I found this trick. 5mins and it was in . I did heat up which made the seam more flexible.

Had it in like 5-7mins... Nice !

I boil the seals in water for about 10 minutes, that seems to work well.

There is actually a tool that holds small seals and o-ring in a kidney shape to help with insertion, but that trick works OK as long as you can cut the tie without nicking the seal.

Re:Do I prefil the Cyl now done? How to get Hydraulic Cyl apart? Threaded? w/ Pics

You guys are the best....!~ Thanks folks... My first Cyl is done and ready to be reassblmed.

quick q- Do you prefill the Cyl w/ fluid at all? or just let the air work out later?

sidebar: I'm dumping the entire system.. and putting in better fluid. I was a NEWB a few years back and put in 'yellow bucket' crap. Getting a good spec fluid in her after the rest of the seals are done.

What kind of boob needs a hydraulic cylinder to swing it? I'm intrigued and frightened at the same time. Seriously thanks for the write up.

I use one of these, same effect as the zip tie trick:

Really the rest of us were playing so nicely and just let that one float right on by...but now you had to take it that direction...

So I also am interested in seeing a picture of that situation to alleviate the fear and satisfy the intrigue.
