Lack of a road gear on my 2005 B7800.

I bought my 2005, B7800 this Spring and am just now blowing and pushing snow. I have 10 driveways around the hamlet that I look after. They are not to far apart but what I really miss is some road speed out of the Bota.

I am used to my TEA-20 Ferguson that has a reasonable road gear and the Bota just seems to crawl along, disappointing.

Don't believe any of the smaller Kubota's have any appreciable road speed. Not meant for roading.

In fact, I don't believe ANY of the smaller tractors in ANY brand / color have any road speed.

Not safe to go very fast with the short narrow wheelbase.

Unless you have the neat steering setup my Sidekick has. When going slow the steering is very quick. As you speed up, the steering becomes slower and more effort is needed to turn the wheels. It electric variable ratio power steering.

Don't know of any compact tractors having what was once called a "road gear."

Years back, I had a Barnyard Buick (International) that was called a 'Western Tractor' and it had a road gear. If I remember correctly it would do about 35 or 40 Was built to get from field to field quickly out west.

Only tractor I know of today with 'road gears is the JCB Fastrak and it's not a small unit. Fastrak's will do 50 but they have front and rear suspension and front and rear PTO and 3 point lifts.

please be sure to not use 4wd when on the road this was advised to me by others on this site

It is what it is. I liked the road gear on a previous IH "H" and a Ford 9N. My last 3 Kubota CUTS did OK on the road, with my current L4060 doing the best at 16mph.
The comments about stability at speed are worth noting. Wife's cousin died in a roll over on the road at speed.
