Had a Board meeting the other day at the car museum.

https://www.classiccarmuseum.org/

I've walked by these two many times, but for some reason they both caught my eye. My pictures stink, but I'm no photographer....

My favorite has always been a '31 Packard coupe, off-white and burgundy.

Now I think this black 1930 Packard is the one....was just restored in last 5-6 years by the owner. Red leather interior. Beautiful car.

The white/grey 1933 Marmon was burned up years ago. The owner restored it to better than new....

Damn straight, my friend.

Nothing like hearing good '60's Muscle of your liking with glass packs and Cragers for the tires...

By '73 and later, everything was kind of bleached out due to first smog equipment and the gas embargo and tight supplies.

No wonder you can't get a good picture, too much chrome and the camera can't focus!!

A lot of work (and money) goes into those cars. Those that do that kind of work have patience beyond measurement.

Right about that Skeets. If I had my druthers (and was rich), I'd be driving a Dusenberg.

Had a 58 VW when I was a kid. Talk about a soulless car, there it was. 36 horsepower lawnmower.

Knew a guy who had a business hot rodding out VW Bugs. Drove one of his cars once that had a pancake porche engine in it. It was a pretty fun car to drive :D Only issue with them having the engine in the trunk and that much more HP was you had to really watch the throttle in a corner. That front end got awful light and the front tires would lose their grip.

On a straight away though it would turn some heads. Put the throttle to the floor taking off in first, and grab the gears as fast as you could. The front tires would finally contact the road about a third of the way through 4th gear :D:D

Wow bear, that would be the ticket....no pun intended![emoji41]

My first car was a ‘67 Caprice with 327. Jacked up with wide tires and Cherry Bomb header mufflers. White car, no vinyl top.

Now, even something nondescript like that is worth some coin....

A friend bought a ‘63(?) Chevy 409 convertible few years ago at Barrett Jackson. White over red. Sharp car (I like red) and I was surprised that he didn’t pay more. Must have been a good deal, because he sold it within a couple years.

You bet....we're in good company and not alone!

Everyone I know wish they had at least 1 back...

Nobody wishes they had their Pinto, Pacer, Gremlin, Renault LeCar (remember those?), Yugo, or Cadillac V8/6/4 back.....:p

Bear - just thought of this one.

It's a '63 Vauxhall Velox. Was donated to us a couple years ago. Absolutely gorgeous British car.

If I remember right, they were sold at Pontiac dealers in Canada while another British manufacturer (escapes me right now) sold theirs at Buick dealers in the US.

I'll post a pic when I find it.

Wow that is awesome!! Yes they did sell them here in Canada when I was younger but not sure how long. I sure don't remember them looking near that good back then but being young I was way more interested in American muscle. Boy it's nice when you realize that you never did grow up.:D

My wife's Suburban does the 4-8 shuffle. When it's on cruise above 55, the engine drops to 4 cylinders and the transmission shifts to an in between overdrive. Think they do that so you don't have to pay a gas guzzler tax because it is a pig. Nice ride though.

Glad she buys the gas for it, not me.....:)

While I love American muscle cars, I think given my choice were someone to give me one,, it would have to be an E type Jag. Not the fastest, nor the most reliable,,but talk about sex appeal ,,, the E type has it in spades !

I had a '62 XKE. Six cyl. the 3 single barrel carbs. dual shocks on the back. It would easily get to 110MPH and you'd swear you were doing half that. I still have the carb adjustmentt tool.

It was fun for a few years, but even a young 6'-4" frame it was a chiropractor's delight! It's like setting on the road. Fun to get in and out of.

Had that on my wall at college, along with John Wayne and Bruce Lee....interesting combination as I reflect on it.....[emoji41]

Opel cars were sold in the US at Buick dealers...couldn’t come up with that before.

You left out Ford Maverick, and yeah I wish I still had my '74. Traded it to my brother for a '86 Mustang coupe which still has me, although I haven't seen it in years. My dad's got possession of it.
