I'm looking at one of the Facebook BX groups and this user has uncovered this large rock approximately 6'long, 2-3' wide, 1' thick. Not unusual, but then he was able to pick the rock by keeping it wedged between the bucket and the dipper. No thumb. Then he appears to drive away with it. Is that advisable to use the BH in that manor?

Sure it is possible. I've carried/picked up stumps like that. For a few feet. Then I use chain to secure it and resume moving it. You never want to transport an unsecured load. Chained, you are able to move the BH dipper a bit and confirm the balance of the machine is still safe. Discovering you are 'at the tipping point' while under way is a bad learning experience.
