There is an old saying, firewood warms you 3x!! Cutting, splitting, hauling. Moving firewood is probably the most underestimated work. You split it, haul that to a drying spot, haul smaller loads to the burn area, etc. Having a tractor definitely helps out, still alot of handling each piece multiple times.
I thought about this, looked around and came up with a easy, very low cost solution. I built firewood racks out of used pallets and scrap wood. Each rack holds a face cord, it takes me 10 minutes to build one, and my only real material cost is deck screws (I always have scrap lumber around)
The great this about this is I can take the rack to the wood/splitter, fill it there, move it to a drying spot, then when I'm ready to use it move it to that spot (Sugar shack, fire ring...) Of course it helps to have fork attachments!
