My 4WD B8200 is missing the front driveshaft. A man who repairs Kubotas says he has a collection of drive shafts but most are not marked. How can I identify the correct drive shaft ?

Tim, I know you don't want a smart azzed answer, but the only way I know is "it fits". Count and describe the splines on the part of the shaft you have that the missing part has to mate to.

I don't think you'll find a part number on any shaft part. Best advise is to ask someone who has a B8200 with mid mount mower (if that's the shaft you're looking for) to take some pictures and measurements, and you go compare to the man's stock pile!

And if you post some pictures of your set up, you will probably get more responses.

Like D2Cat said there is no way to identify the shaft without matching it to an existing shaft, there are no markings on the parts that will be identifiable or trackable.

What part or parts do you need (from the pic below)?
If it's just the shaft that's not too hard, if it's the whole assembly then that's going to be tough!

Now for the really bad news, that drive shaft was only used in 3 models, B20, B8200-D and B8200-HSTD, so it's rare.

I counted the splines on the yoke on the transmission side, I think there are 18 splines. I may press some clay around the shaft and get a closer view. Its not so easy to count.

Tim, what might help you count the splines is to take a picture with your cell phone, then you cam enlarge the picture to get a good count.

As an example, here is a picture of a 730 Case rock shaft. The seal was leaking. The book said to remove the wheel and fender to get to it. I couldn't see what was in there, so I took pictures and enlarged them with my phone and saw everything I needed.

I think your missing the bigger picture, almost all of the front wheel drive shafts will have the same spline count in the era, it's not the spline count that is the issue, it's the length of all the components that is the issue, they will all vari a little, and one will not fit in another's location.

You never said what all pieces do you need?

I now have what appears to be the complete drive shaft and various bits associated with it. For $50
