Yesterday I was on my 5th day of pulling down and brush pile I had made over a year ago with a big dozer. Burn bans wont let me burn it, so i'm pulling out the fireplace worthy chunks to cut up and stack (have about 6 cords piled now, gave away 3 last winter).
Well, after climbing all over the pile, sticking my arm into the brush to get my chain and hook up to pull more out, and moving 3/4 of the pile.
I saw one MAD coon (all puffed up and pissed) dart out from the back side of the pile and go looking for cover.... I was a little spooked, as they are a very fierce animal when mad. Then within a couple of minutes ANOTHER one shot out....
Sure, call me a home wrecker and all, but still... and we are actually in side the city limits (small town but still).
So... be carefull out there, you never know who's in the wood pile...!!!

Here in Reno we have them down town in the storm drain system. Broken water lines, storms,etc.. brings the out of the woodwork and they are not happy !

I'm pretty sure they came back after I left... so, i'll have to deal with them again soon. Just hope i'm ON the tractor and not on foot.
I'll give the pile a good pushing with the FEL and see if they're in there....

Not sure of size of Hico, just make sure none of your neighbors get wind of your hunting expedition, they'll either wanna join in or rat you out to the local do-gooder society, there appears to rash of them in today's world. Or you could just put a silencer on your pistol, just saying.....

At least you have the right to bear arms over there. Here in England we have no pistols and to have firearms you have to be vetted by your doctor.

The self defense angle does not always work as can been seen here in this case of extreme over zealousness by the federal authorities, In this case a father shot and killed one of 3 grizzly bears that had entered his yard where his children were playing,

We have that right because we continiously fight to keep it, There are many that feel that the only people who should possess firearms are the government, They feel that only the police and military should be allowed to own guns, It is a fight that we are continually waging and one that many of us feel is one of the most important rights our founding fgathers bestowed upon us.

WOW... that is MESSED UP. They expect the man to PROVE the kids were in danger...??? they could kiss my @$$.

Well, in a strange twist, LAST NIGHT... we had a 250+# WILD HOG, just 50 yards from my driveway...
one thing for sure, they are NOT a protected animal, you dont need any tags or permits to kill them.
I didnt kill it, but if i see it again I WILL.

I am a FIRM believer in my right to bear arms, I spent 22 years in the military and am a legal CHL holder for concealed carry of a fire arm.
I do not kill for the thrill of the kill, but I will protect my family and myself.
A raccoon is mean little critter, that could claw you up, but a 250# WILD HOG, will rip you open and you'll bleed out.

I'll be ready for any meeting, with an AR15 and a .308.....
just sayin.

I'd imagine your neighbor would be alright with a few less raccoons hanging around. You've forced them to find new digs and a nearby garage would be pretty comfy.

That's crazy about buddy with the grizzly.
I hope it gets tossed out of court.

I've got no beef with people owning guns.
Its the accidental deaths which piss me off.
This is from the NRA website.
http://www.nraila.org/issues/factsheets/read.aspx?id=120
In fact, on average there is one such death among children per day, including one accidental death every seven days.

In your case WinnieCouple, you've got training and experience.
Anyone with proper training should be able to own a house full of guns.

kids and guns... either way its the gun owners fault, but I grew up with guns in the house, and they weren't "hidden" from me, we were SHOWN how they work and how powerfull and DEADLY they are.

Maybe kids HAVE changed...? but "parenting" should keep up..!!!

We had lead paint, and few "warning labels" and watched the coyote and road runner try and kill each other....?? and we lived.

Oh well, if i had "all" the answers.. i'd be a rich man.

I like the British idea of requiring an exam from a doctor before being allowed to but a gun - if it's effective. There are lots of unstable people out there and I'm tired of reading about their killing sprees.

I have no problem with responsible gun ownership. I'm just saying we might all be safer with some tougher, well-designed regulations.

PS - I've got a .22, a 20ga. and a 30-30, and they all have trigger locks.

Be safe out there, with your guns and your tractors.

what he said.

after the Luby's shooting several years back, and Nevada's IHOP shooting recently...
I really HOPE I never have to be in that situation... but if I am, I'll do what I have to do, to protect MY family.

I just keep running the tractor.... scare em back to the woods.

( i did have to pull out my pump up pellet pistol last night, and run off a big cat, that is fighting the other cats around here....)
I didnt hit the cat, but he understood it was "directed near him"...
( his final warning shot )

next shot.... just below the water line.
LOL LOL LOL :D:D:D:D

Sounds fair to me. :D

TOOOOO much big brother and toooo many PITA whacks and the list goes on.
The bear shooting is a terrible travesty against humanity. Was the father supposed to let a child get hurt or killed to prove defense. INSANE!!! The bear was trespassing on private property. It is not like he went out to find a bear in the woods. Protected or not there must be a line of reason in favor of human life OVER an animal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm just saying.
