Been lurking around here for a while but finally posting. Picked up an old and extremely crusty L1500 that I'll be tinkering on. I've spent hours on here researching and I'm sure many more to come. Any tips and tricks are welcome.
You wouldn't normally find water in the oil, but you would find a motor that was seized up.Yup, sad sight indeed. And very lucky the exhaust was covered as I've found no signs of water in the oil.
OMG, I like a challenge and tinkering, BUT, that would be too much for me.Here's one of how I found her, sad sad shape and probably beyond worth fixing if it weren't for me just wanting something to tinker with.
I see some cooling system parts, what's missing?Well, I was pleasantly surprised this weekend when after just a little work freeing up the throttle and removing some things I was able to get it to fire up. It doesn't have a functioning cooling system so was only a short time but it ran and surprisingly well. Running 100% Diesel Purge.
Correct Russell, one less thing to have to replace. There is no water pump as far as I know.
These were thermosiphon systems so no thermostat or water pump involved.
