Super UDT question

I just bought a pail of super udt2 Here Maine locally for $103 plus tax. I put it in my new to me B1550 today! The previous owner had neglected the hydraulic system and I had to do a complete flush with aw 68 to remove the moisture that was in the tractor when I got it. The one thing I noticed about the super udt2 was it very thin compared to regular hydraulic fluid.

You'd think Kubota would spec their UDT's with some color other than hard to see clear.

What was someone thinking?

It's not easy to visually check on a yellow dipstick. I need to use a paper towel and lay it on there or slowly run the towel down the stick until it shows "wet".

Take a black Sharpie pen and blacken one side of the dipstick.

Easy and cheap fix for the clear fluid problem. Works in Kubota fluid just fine.

Less than $10 i think.

My local Kubota dealer charged me $70 per 5-gallon pail of UDT (and I need almost 3-pails of the stuff.) I was so shocked at the price.... I've decided to make it last a lot longer by not installing it for 6 more months!

I have double your fun, how about 6 pails a change and 4 filters. I took a 150 gallon aluminum truck fuel tank that was in a wreck and plasma cut 1/3rd off the end and I use that for a change pan. Works really well.

Last time I changed both tractors (last spring), I took the used oil to the local Autozone and the manager looked at me like I was nutz. it went to the Freightliner dealership where I retired from. The have 2 big waste oil heaters and I dumped it in their underground tank (and brought the pails home.

Been thinking about a waste oil heater for the shop, I have a lot of used oil every year.
