Looking for advice on converting a front mount 63" B2782 to a 3 point.
It was previously mounted on the front of a smaller tractor (B2650?). I will be using it on an L35. The BL2583 looks to be the factory conversion kit but I plan to make it myself.

The info I have lists the B2650 "mid" PTO RPM as 2500. If I run off the back of my L35 at 540 RPM the blower would not work well. Anyone have experience with this?

Any info is appropriated.

It would not work at all at 540 rpm. I am not aware of a way to convert PTO rpm from 540 to 2500, to send to the blower. All that comes to mind would be to look at some way to change the ratio of the chain driven gear box on the 2782B? It basically down gears the PTO 2500 rpm to the blower speed in normal use. If possible, would take some serious tinkering with the blower gear box and housing, I'd say.

Simple pull of the gear reduction (2 sprockets and chain drive) and direct feed the shaft.

That makes sense Wolfman. Looks like 4 or 5 to 1 reduction through the sprockets. That would explain why the three-point upgrade kit doesn't have any sprockets in it. Don't change them just remove them!

Checked out the sprockets...
The tooth count on the sprockets are 11:36. So if the rear PTO shaft is turning at 540 RPM (rather than mid PTO at 2500 RPM) and I remove the 11:36 sprocket set (1:3.27) then it would spin the second stage impeller at 540 RPM rather than 764 RPM if it were run off a 2500 RPM mid shaft with 11:36 reduction.

If my math is correct then direct connection to the rear PTO wound drive the blower at ~2/3 the speed of a mid PTO driven set up.

I know jack squat about how to operate a B2650. Is it that the engine RPM will range from idle to "full" speed? Having a wider range? I expect I would set my hand throttle to "PTO speed" and use my clutch/gears to control tractor speed and maybe the blower would work fine.

Any thoughts?

Don't overthink it, snow blowers do not need an exact speed of operation to work.
Pull the gear reduction box off of it, bolt on a three point hitch, bolt on a PTO drive shaft to it that has a shear pin setup, and away ya go, off clearing snow. ;)

Would it not be better to sell the B2782, even used they seem to fetch higher dollars than many new 3 pt snow blowers.
You could then buy a new 3 pt. blower and probably have money left over.
Most new 3 pt. blower use thick steel and larger diameter fans than many front mount blowers.
A 3 pt. 64" wide snowblower like the Frontier SB1164 has a 24" diameter fan and the blower weighs 505 pounds.

Hey b12, how much will you give me for it?

Wolfman you are a wise one...

""bolt on a PTO drive shaft to it that has a shear pin setup""

Any suggestions on where to get one of said gizmos? The shaft is 1.25" with a 0.25" key.

I like my 3 Pt snowblower and would not want a front mount, but there are plenty of folks that do not want to snowblow backing up and looking over their shoulder. Just doing a quick check online of use B2782 , both A and B.
used B2782A are $3000 - $3500 and used B2782B are $4000- $4500.
Checking online, a new 3 pt. Frontier SB1164 snowblower is $2700.
