Well the bleeding hearts decided the seal cull was a bad thing a few years back and this is the result. We've been here a long time and have never seen anything like this. My wife counted over 90 seals on the ice out front and God knows how many more are in the water. I myself just got off the phone with DFO trying to get some help with the problem and he was just on his way out but he did say he would be up to see me soon and he sounded genuine. All I can do is hope. He also mentioned writing a letter to our local politicians but you may as well stick your finger where the sun don't shine. It's tough to watch them out there and not be able to shoot. And that my friends is my rant for today.

Well at least they may do something about it for you, I'm not holding my breath here. Hard to see what's going on right in front of you and you can't do anything about it. Never heard anyone use that term before, I like it.

Fishing is being cut back, shipping lanes moved, and speed limits imposed, also because of the killer whales. All this even though scientifically the resident killer whales are and always have been a small population and is holding stable.

I would love to shoot them however 2 guys got nailed a couple years ago for doing the same thing. Pretty heavy fine as I remember. Trouble is when I shoot here the shot echo's down the lake and with that 30 06 it's loud!!

Just love it when the government gets involved, not much they can't screw up.

Our NDP gov't here in BC (Pelosi and Sanders type Democrats for you 'Mericans) have stopped the grizzly bear hunt. We are now seeing grizzly predation of ungulates, black bears, and suburban areas, as there never was an issue with the population - it was very well managed. Emotion over science...

Its seals for ya'll and whitetail deer for us. They are so bad around our area that there is no sense in trying to grow anything around your house. Coming to work just this morning I had to stop the truck and let the herd cross the road in front and behind me. 30+ passed in front of me and probably another 15 or 20 passed behind the truck. I wish I'd taken a picture but was on phone with office at the time.

This isn't an isolated thing. Its a several times a week thing. A friend pulled in our driveway the other night and said there were 15 or so bedded down in my front yard under a pine tree. No cover for them at all. I would stack them up like cordwood and put them in the freezer but too many tree huggin snowflake marshmellows around.

Around here, the whitetail barely maintain a population, and there is no season on them in my WMU, but muleys are common enough. I wish there were more, but as hunting rises in popularity more urban folks are coming to my neck of the woods to hunt (or poach too...) and I have to go farther out to hunt myself. Black bear are everywhere there, and we had elk in the yard again yesterday (no season on them either in my WMU)

Lol, I know it's not funny but you cracked me up, dude you have a way with words. I would trade my problem for your in a second but then again I would have no problem thinning out a few deer and the poor deer wouldn't stand a chance with the locals.

Same problem here with the deer. I wish we had bear here but not enough area for them but I sure would love to have one in the freezer. Hopefully next year, nothing better than a slow cooked bear roast

That's what was going on here before I left to go find work. Now we have little to no deer. If someone could find a cure for greed it would be great.

We counted over 90 seals out in front yesterday today there's just too many of them to bother....fishing is screwed.

Ehenry, you might not have to go to those lengths. Deer have gotten too numerous in some urban areas around mid Michigan, college towns, plenty of tree huggers, I myself like trees, but lots of people can recognize the populations are out of balance. So the city, county organize deer hunts, mostly bow hunters with recognized skill, and several times a year come through and in the parks or other safe places take out as many deer as possible. The meat is donated to the local food bank and shelters. See if you can't get something like that going. Even tree hugging marshmallows get tired of deer car collisions and having their hostas devoured.

Yes sheepfarmer, that has happened here on the mainland in 2 different small towns. I believe that in Truro Nova Scotia one lady was feeding the deer so the city put an end to anyone feeding them or they would face a hefty fine. The other place was down the South Shore where they opened it up to bow hunters and as far as I know they were successful in reducing the herd. I just wish they would relocate them here where we need to bring the population back up.

We keep livestock here in the northern part of the Province.

The number of times we have had to intervene on behalf of our livestock in the last year or so has been outrageous.

If something would take a chunk of tofu off the plate of some of those Vancouver, spit, suburban, triple foam latte, snivelers guess what an uproar there would be. But like said, they don't have to live with the consequences of there actions.

Don't get me started.....
