BX2660 Front Axle Rocking Pin

Hello All.
I am after some information on the removal of the rocking pin on the front axle of the BX2660, it is leaking some oil. Does the rocking pin go through the axle thereby letting it leak through the O-rings. How do I replace the O-rings. The WSM does not show much.

The pivot bolt does go through the axle. The axle must come out of the tractor. It's not as bad as it sounds. There's only power steering hoses, steering cylinder, and driveline to disconnect. There are bushings, o rings ,and back up rings to change and possibly the bolt if noticeably worn. The bushings can be a bit of a pain to change due to a shoulder they press up against. its pretty straight forward to do.

As noted in the previous quote ( the bushings are a pain to replace) the easy way to replace the bushings is to thread in a tap and using a long punch drive them out from the opposite side. I don't recall the tap size that I used but you have to factor in the worn bushing when purchasing it. It's not a difficult job to do but the axle tends to flop around so you have to be careful. Thank for the quick reply. Having a closer look again after your suggestions, I wonder if I can support the front of the tractor enough to take the bolt out without having to remove the hoses and steering cylinder, after draining the oil of course. Can you see any problems with this?
The suggestion tapping the bushes to grip them is a good idea, if they are tight.

Why of course you can.
Why even bother draining the oil?
I've seen axles pins with huge hours on them and wear was minimal on the pin and bushing.
Most likely only the O-ring will need replaced, use a pick to remove them.

Reviving the thread.
I am going to have to remove the front axle from my 16 year old BX1500. It is leaking oil like a seive. My question is can you simply unbolt the steering cylinder and tie it and attached parts up out of the way in order to keep the lines attached?

You would have to remove the tie rod ends, then yes it can stay with the tractor.

On note, if your going to roll it out the front, you'll find removing the cylinder is going to make that tack real difficult as the wheels will just flop around.

If your going out the sides then a couple furniture dollies will make it much easier, just strap the wheels to the dollies and off you go.
