Springfield? I'm down in Lampe.
I use a 5 gallon can and set it on the hood (kneeling pad under it) and use a small siphon pump commonly used with those little kerosene space heaters.
I rarely need more than 5 gal. at a time so that works for me.

This is what I use: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/no-spill-inc-diesel-can-5-gal-carb-compliant?cm_vc=-10005

I lay it on it's side on the hood over the fill tank and just push the button. It empties very quickly and no spills.

I love the No Spill, Inc. Diesel Can, 5 gal.

I drilled a hole thru the ears and put a 7 penny nail in it to lock the fuel on.

No funnel. It flows pretty fast.

The can sits on the hood.

I hated cans, so bit the bullet years ago and fuel my stuff from a transfer tank in the truck with 12v FillRite pump, filter, and auto shutoff nozzle.

Same with me. 110 gallon transfer tank in the pickup truck for field fills (remember I farm) and a 1500 gallon bulk tank next to the barn. I like having the 1500 gallon tank because I can buy my fuel when the price is lower., plus it gets delivered.

Only buy off road, red dyed no road tax diesel anyway.

I switched to a hand pump on the transfer tank because the electric (12 volt) ones don't last for me and are too expensive.

I use the No Spill too. I just lay it label side down with the spout in the tank opening and push the button. It's internally vented so it flows fuel fast! Granted, my BX only has a 6 gallon tank...

We have 2 of those roughneck cans at work. The pump they come with doesn't last forever. We replaced the pumps with some push-pull style pumps from TSC, which pump about 20x faster and don't wear you out NEARLY as fast as the rotary style. And they're almost 6 years old-used daily, sometimes 15 times a day with the gasoline can this time of year (youth quads and bikes). The bigger tractors, we just drive them to the station-a couple blocks away to fill 'em up but they have 20+ gallon tanks and the cans at the shop only hold 30, and we don't fill them all the way up (usually stop at 25 gal +/-) to allow for expansion and avoid spillage when going to/from the station.

No spill? You mean always spill? I hate them.

Thanks for all replies, pics, & links. For now I'm going with one of the small electric pumps & just drop the suction line into the 5 gal can spout. May do something else later. What a great forum!

I had both a 55 gal transfer tank with 12 volt pump in my truck and a 200 gravity transfer tank at my house for gasoline. I***8217;ve sold them both as the transfer tank took to much bed space for me and my kid loved the 200 gallon endless supply for his sled. Lol! I***8217;ve tried the smaller 14-20 gallon transfer tanks with the small hoses and sold them , they took forever. For the tractor I found I don***8217;t use enough for large fuel tanks so I***8217;m using 5 gallon army cans. They dump fast and don***8217;t spill.

A setup for diesel that works for my situation is a plain steel 55-gal drum with an air-operated pump like this. I slide the drum into the pickup for filling at the self-serve.

Here are pics of what I use. I found a white 30 gallon drum (so I can monitor the fuel level and fabricated the rest from things just around the shop. The bungs are the same as the 45 gallon drum. I load this on the Carry-all behind the B7100 and drive to the local gas stop about 1/4 mile away. Had to add a strobe light to the ROB as local gendarmes could not see the orange flashers, and gave me a warning.

I just pressurise the tank to 5 or 6 lbs , place the fitting into the tank, open the valve and voila! Have to give it a shot of air now and then to keep up the flow, no spill or mess to clean up. As an added bonus, I also use this setup to fill my home furnace oil tank in winter, 30 gallons at a time, and save 35 cents per litre from the fuel delivery price. Makes a difference when you are on a fixed income!

I have a funnel that i place cheese cloth in, and (5) 1 1/2 gallon empty federal powder jugs that I got from work that I use. I do have one 5 gallon jug I use when I'm away from the farm and will need to refuel, easier to carry one jug.

At home I fill my tank when she gets close to 3/4, so the 1 1/2 gal jugs work nice, not heavy and easy to handle, and were free.

I have a 2007, 5.9 Cummins diesel powered Dodge truck. I had a guy in Texas make a custom 40 gallon tank for me for traveling with my 5th wheel. I have a 15 GPM Fill Rite pump wired in to the trucks 12 volt system. I don't have the tank tied into my trucks fuel system as it can cause transfer problems. Sure is nice to pull my B3200 up next to the truck and fuel it in a matter of minutes. The tank is also easily removed, empty or close to empty. I put a quick electrical disconnect on the power cord to the pump and if you look at the tabs on the tank, I have only three allen screws to remove the tank. I put nut plates on the other side so no crawling under the truck to hold a nut. It gives me about 75 gallons total which gives me the advantage of avoiding high price towns.

Very cool set up.
