I have a L2650 with a plastic sight glass for the hydraulic oil level. This glass is damage so I can't read the oil level. How difficult is it to remove and replace this glass.
Not hard but you need to drain the hydraulic fluid and possibly remove the rear cover. You need to get a new one from the dealer or from a supply house like MSC in the correct diameter. In tech speak they are called Bulkhead Fittings.
I wish my big M's had them. I find the dipstick tedious and difficult to read because the fluid is clear.
You can get the sight glass at the dealer. About $7. Pry the one out and pop the new one in. If you're concerned about fluid loss, park the tractor so the side opposite the sight glass is down hill!
I plan on changing the fluid at the same time I change the sight glass. I have the part and was wondering should I use silicone sealer when I install the glass.
