Winter time

The tractor won’t be getting much use this winter. Planning to top off the tank and add stabilizer to it. Anything else I should be doing? Just hit 125 hours and she’s running like a champ!

Toward the back of your owner's manual is a laundry list of things you could do, depends on your climate.. Includes such things as putting it up on blocks, taking out battery, etc. If winter is not too long a battery tender might be sufficient. For a common rail engine clean fuel is critical, so make sure your fuel stabilizer has a bacterial growth inhibitor in it.

A battery tender is the only other thing I can think of.

Seriously, as long as tank is full, I think you should be good. How cold does it get there?

I'd put a tender on the battery or charge it and disconnect it for the winter.

You could just go out and start it and let it run for 1/2 hour each month. Let it move around a little bit, take it to the corner and back!

If winter continues like it has lately, cold will not be much of an issue. The only real problem is the rain. My property gets wet in the winter and stays soft until late spring. Joys of living in the swamps of eastern NC!

Thanks for the advice. I'll top it off, put a charger on it and come out and run it every couple of weeks. The house will hopefully be done in January so it will make it much easier.

Ditto as to what Cat said - crank, start, run around the block - let it run for a bit (20+ minutes) and do it again......every week if possible - but a least once a month.

Not necessarily a winterizing thing, but if it's gonna sit for a while in a moist environment, you might consider lubing all the fittings and hitting any spots that need it with a spray can of paint.

If your tractor has a clutch pedal, keep it in the depressed state so the clutch disc is not contacting the flywheel. There is usually a small clip on the fire wall to hold the clutch pedal in the down/depressed position.

+1 on the battery tender. Hooked mine up yesterday afternoon after topping off the diesel. Wanted to fill my jugs up since it was below 2.70/gal. Here in OH we tax the crap out of diesel. Still looking for someplace that sells offroad diesel.

Anyway, I had to put a new battery in last August. Not expecting issues with it, but the battery tender will keep her starting good. Changed the engine oil&filter last week and will do the tranny fluid/filters this coming week. I'll follow that up with lubing all the zerks and then put her to work hauling firewood. Can't freeze up here fast enough for me.

If it's not going to be used I'd change the engine oil.

Dirty contaminated oil is hard on internal parts just sitting.

Tax the crap out of diesel? My heart bleeds for you! Come on over here to PA and top off for 3.58/gal if you want to get a taste of taxes!
But I agree on the freeze-up. Can't hardly get into the woods to get firewood for next year yet it's so wet. But I'm not complaining. Better than a drought any day. Just ask the folks in California.
