Yes, they warranted the battery, no money changed hands. I have 76 or so hours on my machine, two regens.
Nice...as they should have. Since we have nearly identical hours, my MX4800 has only had two regens as well. My last regen was about 5 hours ago I'd say. How do you use your tractor? Most of my hours are flail mowing fields at wide open throttle.

No WOT here, when I use the finish mower I put it on 2500 rpms. Otherwise I keep it at 2100 or so when puttering around the place, No idle hours. Dealer told me no problem operation at PTO speed, but I just cut it back a little. On start up advance to 1500 or so. Only have 4 acres here. Great for my needs....

Interesting. Despite the different RPM levels, our regens were about the same. I definitely idle my tractor though. I've added some Rigid cube lighting to the canopy and I think nothing of letting my tractor idle for a couple of hours just to run lighting when I'm working on the woods at night.

I am probably over protecting my tractor from idling, but i cant see 2k rpms adversely affecting anything but the fuel bil :-(

I changed my oil at 50hrs, was totally amazed how clean it was. So, we are pleased with the machine and somewhat taken back (as u mentioned) the kubota battery died so early. Not sure who makes Kubota batteries, keeping smart battery tender (1.5 amp) on as it sits over winter.

I changed my oil at 72 hours...was totally black as ink, like every other diesel I've ever changed oil on. Tranny and hydraulic fluid was super clean though.

As a side note, the battery they replaced your original with won't be the same as original. My dealer said a replacement Kubota is very expensive and is not the same battery as the tractor would have come from Japan with. He did say the original batteries tend to last longer than any replacements. However, usually the replacements have higher cold cranking amp values.

L 3901, 74 hours, purchased March

I am not sure glo plug working properly. Cold weather now, turn the key and glo plug indicator illuminates, goes off indicating ready to start, but the engine sure cranks slow, but starts.

Thought i would check battery, checks ok. Connections ok to.

I dont understand why the plug indicator does not stay on longer...similar to my 5.9 in cold weather.

Am i missing something or is my tractor functioning like all 3901.

Thanks, Butch
Sounds to me like your battery is dying. You need to either use a carbon pile battery tester or check the idle voltage (with the cables removed). Any idle reading below 13.5 volts and the battery is dying. People wrongly assume that because a battery is reading 12 volts or a little higher, the battery is good.

It's not. at 12 volts or slightly higher, the battery is dicharged or on the way out.

If you read his post, you'd see the problem was his battery - he replaced and is all set now.

That is what i was expecting, coal black oil like on my 5.9. Not even close. Confirmed any doubts i had bout tier 4 burning clean..

Yup, not a Kubota battery, but no complaints. I just hope i do not have a parasitic drain......doubt that

As an aside, both my M's shipped with Yuhasa batteries and both lasted over 7 years without an issue. I could tell they were nearing the end of their useful life by the cranking speed in the winter, so I replaced them both with Delphi starting batteries, Group 31, with 1250 CCA each. I have 3 years on them and no apparent loss of cranking speed yet.

One thing I learned from a battery guru was, the heat of summer destroys a battery faster than the cold of winter. Reason why batteries tend to fail in the first cold snap is because they were failing in the warm weather but you don't notice it because the motor cranks easier and needs less starting amperage than in the winter.

I've been told heat kills batteries too.

Makes sense. The battery in the fiance's Volvo lasted 12 years. It's over sized in relation to something domestic we would see here for I'm assuming Swedish winter temps and it's in the trunk away from engine heat.
