Hello,
Wanted to see if anyone knew where I could find information on how to replace a radiator fan belt on a M4900 Kubota tractor?
There wasn't anything on You Tube and I can't find anything on line.

1. Where can one get detailed information on how to do this?
2. How difficult is it for a modest mechanical guy?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you and have a blessed day.

Pretty simple, loosen or remove the stuff in the way & replace belt.

Go here and get a free Workshop Manual (WSM), I saw what looks to be one for your tractor in the Owners Manual list.

http://kubotabooks.com/

A WSM will/should have more information than an OPS manual for repair/service items.

Good luck!

On some models you loosen the alternator. Some have a belt tensioner. May have to remove a side guard. Sometimes both sides. If it's a belt tensioner, they usually have a square hole in it that will fit the end of a ratchet. Then it's a matter of using the ratchet to move the tensioner to loosen up the belt and slide it off the tensioner pulley. Watch out that tensioner doesn't slip on you. They can be knuckle busters.

Then work the belt off the pulleys.

Pull belt down to where you can manipulate it, and work it around the fan blade. Sometimes it's a tight fit. Work it around a blade, rotate, work it around the next blade ect... till the belt is free and can be dropped out of a gap. Usually the bottom. Be careful not to damage the fins on the radiator while manipulating the belt.

To reinstall reverse the process.

If you have never done it before it may not be so simple. That is what is so great about this site. People like Daren Todd take time out of there busy day to answer our questions. Great detail and to the point. Thank you all who all make this a great site. Happy tractoring.

As long as the crankshaft pulley (bottom one) doesn't have a shaft out to a front mounted pump like a lot of older tractors did you should be fine. Back in the day it was easier to get a belt that was put over the pulleys and then stitched back together. Your M4900 should not be that style.
It looks like one bolt on the top of the alternator, loosen it a turn. The one on the bottom just loosen a half a turn. If you loosen the bottom too much it will allow the alternator to get sideways when you tighten the new belt. Then when you tighten the bottom bolt the belt will get even tighter. That's bad for the water pump bearings and the belt life.
Nothing here will need forcing or pounding.
Good luck
