L2501 and Rototiller

What size rototiller would a L2501 be able to handle. It would be used in sand and clay soil if that makes a difference. A 60" wouldn't quite cover the rear tire width.

It should take a 60" fine. If you want to go to 72", it had better be a forward Tine unit.

I run a Land Pride RTR 66" on my B 2650, and it handles it no problem at all. Basically the same horsepower.

with r4 tires, my 5ft tiller covers the tire tracks, and does a great job with it. O yeah, l2501.

Never thought about checking the manual. It says max width of 54" so I'm sure a 60" would be fine if I go easy. It would be awesome to be able to rent one but the closest place to me to rent is a 4 hour trip one way with a cost of $250/day. If I could get all my tilling done in 2 days it would be rediculously expensive. Rental place says they might be able to swing it for a three day rental if I can pick it up late in the day and bring it back early in the day.

1 day to return- $250
Fuel to pick up and return-$200-250
Days lost for picking up and returning-Priceless
$1250 for 2 days rental
Some times it's really a pain to live in such a remote location.

May as well buy one and sell it after I'm done with it and recoop some of the money

You might find a nice used 60" and save a few bucks then like you said just sell it when you're done with it and hopefully get most of your money back after your works done.

This is our B2601 with a 60” tiller. We are Breaking up fresh sod removing the excess dirt to lower the grade. We leveled a 2 1/2’ slope using it. The work area was about 30’ x 16’ of hard clay with some roots from a nearby maple.

I thought that when adding an Implements to your PTO it needs to be rated for the HP of the PTO. So if your Kubota has a PTO rating of 27 you would need to get a Tiller at or under that rating. If you go over that rating you could damage your PTO gears over time... I have a L3301 rated at 27.5 HP, so my MAX size tiller would be 60 inch with a rating of below 27.5 HP...

I have an L2501 HST and run a 60" king kutter II gear drive tiller with no issues. I broke new ground with and went full depth on the first pass. The tractor never got hot or really bogged. Just go slow and listen to the tractor it will tell you if you are overdoing it.

I just got a L3301 and was researching getting a 72: but them I was told that If I go over that PTO rating I could damage your PTO gears over time... not right away, but over time...

So not its between a 60" king kutter or 60" CountyLine by Tarter... TSC is just around the corner, the king kutter is sold through Raul King two hrs away.. so that would be a four hr trip.

So its a tough choice, I probably need to stay local with TSC.

I run a 60" King Kutter on my L2501 with no problem, and my soil is clay with basketball sized rocks thrown in. My L2501 runs the tiller so well, I'm thinking of reversing it.

If you bought one at nearest peavey used it on your site -- you could rent yourself and machine out for a few $$$$$ recoup some coin

You'll be happy. The worst thing I can say about the 60" King Kutter (or probably any 60" tiller) is the dang thing is HEAVY...like my heaviest implement for sure. It really is my only implement that I feel I must keep the FEL on when using, just to keep the front wheels planted. Even my 5' disc isn't as heavy, and I often run that with a bushel basket strapped on top, that I put the field rocks in as I run it.
