Box Grader Pitch

Hey All,

We just picked up an L2501 with a bucket and the GS1572 box grader. We have a long dirt road that gets ruts that I’ll be tidying up, and I’m wondering if the 3 point should be set so both the front/back blades make contact simultaneously while on level ground? Pitched slightly forward so the front contacts first and the rear is more of a finish grade?

Everything you mentioned is a starting point.

You will learn what is best ....for the certain situation that you need to complete.

Experiment and then fix your errors!

I use mine with the front blade tipped a little down when going forward and just the opposite hen backing up.

As mentioned, play with it. Forward angle for more aggressive (deeper) cutting to fill and work the ruts. Flat to slightly leaned back for a nice smooth finish. Going forward, of course. I level mine and then count complete turns of the top link (in or out) so I can get back to level easily. Hydraulic top & tilt would be the cat's meow but, I have never been fortunate enough to experience it...

youtube it, there are several pretty good videos out there with folks showing how they do it. Like has been said, no specific right way, learn as you go. The videos let you learn faster on someone else's fuel.

Ahh good trick with counting the turns!

I’ve been able to cut up some good ruts with it level. I’ll try tilting it back to do more finish work after an initial couple cuts.
