I am having a few problems with an air filter for a Kubota B5000 I have recently purchased. When servicing the tractor I looked inside the air filter box and saw that it was rusty and that the paint was coming off and the rubber seals where rotten. I don’t think I can realistic repaint the inside as it is to confined and I could not do a proper lasting job so I am thinking of binning it. The B5000 has a smaller than normal air filter box which Kubota thought wood be a good idea but only used it on this model. A standard B series filter house from a B5100/B6100/B7100 would fit it. I thought it would be easy to get a generic tractor air filter box and fit it to the tractor but I have not found one with a inlet of 40mm which is what’s required. The cost of buying a new one from Kubota uk is about 250 pounds which is a lot of money. I have been unable to locate a good second hand one. I am wondering if any one has any suggestions? I was considering fitting a k and n induction filter this would be smaller than the standard filter. Does any one have any opinions on this idea? Would it be workable? The tractor is not used in dusty conditions. I have stop using the tractor because I worried about a rusty bit of metal or bit of rubber getting into the engine.
