ok lets get this part out of the way first...
this is not on one of my Kubo's.. its on the Kioti CK4010.
will ad a pic tomorrow.
heres the rub:
tired of getting stuck over the hill when its "gooey" & also tired of using a come a long to get moving again.
picked up a Venom Extreme 4500lb winch for cheap. it comes with all the goodies for under $200 & they have a pretty good reputation.
triple gear reduction, all steel & its a synth cable instead of steel.
(if anyone needs a link to it, just ask)
so it shows up with the mounting plate & since i run a FEL on this tractor, it was gonna have to be an under mount set up.
not a problem as its got plenty of clearance from the ground & the bucket protects it from anything anyway.
looked over the factory mount which is just a little plate & finally settled on using some 3.5" x 1/2" thick angle iron to mount to the front brush guard & give enough support to not bend or twist.
(the tractor would pull into before this angle iron gives.)
cut a 12" piece, stuck it on the mill, popped the mounting holes thru it & checked my fit. thru some paint on it to match the winch.
next it was all about running the toggle switch to a factory knockout in the dash. another easy step & just hid the wire with the other factory harness. mounted the switch block next to the battery under the hood & made the cables look as good as possible.
checked my connections, rub spots & then had Abby come out & run the winch while winding up the synth cable.
looks pretty good. is easy to remove if needed & should provide me the little nudge next time it gets too slick to get back up the side wall.
as a side note: the tractor climbs pretty good, but this particular area on the "end of the line trail" at the house is the one you guys said looked to be about 20*.... & its all clay on the way up... so once its wet & you lose that initial run... your done till you hit some more grip.
pix tomorrow as today was really full with 35yrds of concrete, torrential downpour, installing this winch & had to put my dog down & bury her.
looooong day.
