I'm trying to figure out what hp might better present at epto speeds. The gen I'm using only requires 50 hp to run full power, so it might work for me if 50 is present at the lower rpm, but I don't really have a way to measure it.

I would think it'll work but that's only my opinion.

I know my friends 5085E runs a 4x5 NH baler just fine in 540E. Other than in really thick hay it had been running his disc mower fine as well.

Sounds like the 1000 rpm PTO would be great for this application, but so far as I know, they weren't offered on the 7060 (HD8). If I'm wrong, please let me know as I'd love to find a kit to modify the tractor. The only mention of 1000 rpm pto in my manual is a dash light.

You cannot change your 7060 to 1000 PTO but EPTO is a dealer installed option.

Expect the EPTO (540E) to reduce available PTO HP and torque considerably.

IIRC, your M6060 is rated at 64 PTO HP at rated engine RPM so operating at 540E engine RPM will certainly result in less than 50 available PTO HP. Consequently, you will not be able to operate the genset at full load in 540E, but who does? A genset requiring 50 HP input is a large unit. Do you anticipate such load? Of course, you can easily shift out of 540E, increase engine RPM to rated speed and run the genset at full load if needed.

Though I've not measured it, I estimate that my 90 PTO HP M9960 is producing about 60 PTO HP (or a bit less) when in EPTO) and the engine is operating at around 1,700 RPM. When mowing with my BB840X, 7' HD cutter, I cheat a bit by increasing engine RPM so as to obtain about 600 PTO RPM, gaining a bit more power in the process.

Thanks for the insight. I imagine it'll normally only require about half load on the gen, with short bursts (major system startups) at much higher loads. I guess some experimenting is in order once I have everything set up.

For those with ePTO, can you swap between the two under load, or do you need to turn off the PTO to swap to ePTO and vice versa? I assume the latter is most likely and safer.

You cannot swap PTO speed under load. There is a lever at the rear of the tractor where you change the PTO speeds with the PTO switch off. I really like the EPTO and use it often when bushogging my fields. It sometimes bogs down but I just drop a gear or two in the thick Bahia.

I have a 2015 M7060. I'll likely be using it as a standby power source with a PTO generator a couple of times a year. To that end, since I need to generate 540 rpm to get full generator power, I'd like to save a little gas and engine wear. I've seen kits on eBay (Kubota part #3C-131-97710) to convert to ePTO for about $800. However, none of the local kubota dealers knew anything about these kits. Anyone have info on where I can get one of these kits (besides ebay)? My Google searches of the part number didn't amount to much.

I am going to make an assumption here. It sounds like you have not done this before.

I have a 40kw/80kw surge pto driven generator that I use occasionally. If I remember correctly, (purchased 20 years ago), it puts out 166 amps 220 volts and requires 75 hp at full load. I've never run it at full load. It is very critical to run the generator at 60hz or you will quickly start to damage appliances. As you put more load on the generator it puts more load on the tractor which slows the engine down which changes the output on the generator. We've all used the joke 220/221v whatever it takes. 60hz on the other hand is no joke. Now if you have some kind of cruise/throttle control that can maintain pto speeds under a load then disregard this post. :)
My setup does not and I keep an eye on it.

Now, that's interesting.

I would think that a 330 RPM reduction hardly qualifies as "E" and would not be worth the cost.
