First post here. I'll keep it short.
Bought a BX2200, was watching CL/Ebay/Auctions etc for a front mounted snowblower. Most of them were out if my area or out of my price range.
I came across one less than 50 miles from me, went to look at it and noticed new bolts and a few that looked like they've just been wrenched on. I turned the input shaft and held the auger and they were not moving together. My spidey senses were tingling.
Guy said he just had the gearbox rebuilt and probably put it together wrong. I thought maybe the woodruff key was sheared or missing.
It had the quick attachment and he wanted it gone so I offered $600 loaded onto my trailer and it was mine.
Tore it apart today and the gearbox was great, but both sides of the shaft were broken at the crosshole for the pin. They had been drilled many times over. The snowblower isn't that old, some people have more money than brains.....

For 6 bills I say you can spend some money and get a new shaft and still be WAY ahead of the game :D

Yes, I don't feel too bad about it. Still have to get a valve set-up for the lift, I've got time.
Glad I'm doing it now and not with the white stuff in the forcast!

Looks like you are talking about the auger shaft. That should not be too expensive to order a new one. The drive shaft and gearbox assembly is what costs lots of $$$, which vary in design based on the serial number (age of blower).

Being "drilled out" means they probably did not use the proper shear bolts, causing too many failures/jams and eventually damaging the auger shaft. Always use the proper shear bolts...
