Anyone know if adding a mid PTO to a GL6060 ROPS requires a split?

Cannot seem to get a straight answer from my dealer.

Judging by what I'm reading in the Jan 2016 wholegoods document the answer is that it needs a Mid-Gear (L8316, $248) when it is a ROPS model.

I believe installation of the gear requires the tractor to be split to install, but not 100% certain.

The Mid-PTO (L8387, $377) is very easy to install if its anything like the installation on a Grand L30.

The note for the Mid-PTO Internal Gear Kit states:

For installation of L8387 Mid-PTO Kit, L3560DT/GST/HST, L4060DT/GST/HST, 4760GST/HST, L5060GST, L5460HST, L6060HST (Standard on Cab Tractors)

If you send a private message with your email, I will photo the page and send it to you read first hand.

Since this document is 2 years old the information might have changed.

Hope you find this useful.

Good luck and please report back what you find and do.

I dont believe it has to be split. The dealership I have been helping deliver tractors just installed one on a L6060 for a front snow blower. Did not see them split it. Will double check Monday.

Thank you.

Note: Again not certain but it may be that the necessary internal gear is standard on cab models but not ROPS models.

If so, a split may be necessary on ROPS models but not cab models.

See my post above. It is clear there is a difference between ROP's and CAB. Cab it is generally included and ROP's it is NOT included.

This should NOT be very difficult for your local dealer to figure out. The information in the Wholegoods document clearly spells out what is needed and points to a clear difference between CAB and ROP's models. Unfortunately the OP has a ROP's.

The attachments below are from 2014 so it is possible it is not 100% correct. Any Kubota dealer should have the latest and greatest and has the ability to contact Kubota technical for additional help if they are not 100% certain.

Please pay attention to footnote 2. It requires 10 hours for installation.

Hopefully the attachments will help provide clarity.

I was going to say, on ROPS models (no cabin), they allow approx 10 hours for installation, so that typically means "split".

Checked with the techs at the dealership today and as the other posters said, cab model no problem, just bolt on, but rops have to split.

So what did the OP do with this information?

It's always possible the used ROPs tractor was ordered with the internal gear when bought new. It's a very small chance, but a chance none the less.

Nothing, other than decide to not buy the used (but unused) snow blower that my dealer has on consignment.

That said, I probably would not have bought it anyway but for other reasons.
