I have a gravel driveway with drainage issues, hoping the subsoiler would help on its own (just learning what they do), or help dig a trench for installing drain. Also have some water lines to golf greens that need replacing and was thinking might help with that, also looking at middle buster as well. I've been searching quite a bit and it does seem like my 2670 will have to take it little by little, which to me is still better than a shovel if it will work.

I am looking for something that is quick hitch compatible and at the same time allow my BX to lift it high enough off the ground.

That is cool! I saw no chopped or damaged taters, wish I had come up with that.

I bought the TSC Middlebuster few years ago. It's shorter for use with my BX. .

I pulled the moldboard off, and made a point for it like a subsoiler.

From memory, seems it reaches ~12" deep, and does raise fine.

I think it also works fine with my HF QH.

I have the Heavy Hitch adapter with the box blade type shank. Works well with a 3pt trailer mover 2" receiver hitch. I use it to grub stumps and brush mostly.

I did sharpen the leading edge of the shank from above the digging tooth almost up to the bottom mounting hole. Sharpened at 90 degrees to help cut roots and pulls easier in the ground. It doesn't have to be sharp enough to shave with or tapered like a kitchen knife, but just sharper than the rounded front edge of the shank.

I also use it in the fall to create openings in the ground for eventual snow melt to go deeper into the ground. Whether that works well or not, it makes me feel better.

My 5 cents of experience.

That’s good to know, I just came from tractor supply to do some measuring and I don’t think there is any way my BX could have more than an inch of clearance with the yellow Subsoiler on, if that. I heard the middle buster was shorter but didn’t realize you could still get that deep with it.

Do you know if they sell a Subsoiler blade that will fit the middle buster frame?

The heavy hitch would be my first choice, as I think it is well built and designed and I could get the middlebuster/ Subsoiler combo, and it is quick hitch compatible. The Subsoiler combo is about 200, which isn’t bad but the heavy hitch to connect it to runs about 250. If I didn’t already have a ballast box that I have a bit of money in due to paying to make it quick hitch ready, I would be all over it.

Do you need to put additional weight on the unit to help it dig or does it work good on its own?

One other question I have considered getting a gs1548 grader scraper, do the scarifiers on it do about the same thing as a Subsoiler?

Don’t hold me to working depth... I don’t think I used mine this year, but 11 or 12” comes to mind...
I don’t know if they sell a point. I had just bought a welder, and was looking for something to make. I had some former manure spreader paddles that worked great!

The design of my point also extended the reach a little..
I’ll see if I have any pictures, but I think I did post some here at the time.

Haha, won’t hold you to it, Never had a reason to know how to weld, but maybe I need to learn as I’ve only had a tractor about a year and a half and this is about the 6th time I wish I knew how to weld.
